The fan on the sailboat thing makes no sense, unless I'm misunderstanding. There would be no net force on the sailboat...

Took me a while to understand that. Basically the fan pulls in air from a neutral state, turns it into a positive thrust which mostly (1)

Post failed to mention the boat only went forward only because bouncing off the sail, thrusting it forward. Technically confirmed but 1/2
