Great first season. It does get a little tiring after that but overall a fun and original show/adaptation. Hats off to Bart and Gently specifically though.

Eh, it wasn't bad, but I preferred the earlier BBC adaptation with Stephen Mangan. Two very different takes, I just much more prefer the Grifter style.

If you liked it, I’d recommend Mr. Right, a movie about an assassin who’s gone ethical. Movie exists in the same world as DGHDA show. Stars Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick.

The book was better bblah blah. The show is excellent. "Based off" the book is a good description. I loved them both. But they are very different stories.

Not a movie, it's a two seasons series. Books and show as I've been told don't share that much. Just go see the show. You'll read them eventually anyway to know what you've missed.

fun factoid, the book was a script originally for dr. who in the 70's but was never made due to a strike at the studio. Regenold Cronotous was a retired time lord, his office at Cambridge was his Tardis, and at the end of the book the "man from the phone company" who swings buy to "fix" his office was suppose to be dr who.

If you want a series that’s faithful to the source material, try Dirk Gently (2010). It’s sadly short, only four episodes including the pilot.

Don't forget Salmon Of Doubt. Its only half a Dirk gently book, since DNA had the temerity to die before it was finished, but it's still worth reading. The other stories that fill it out are enjoyable as well.
