I like being alive right now

This is my travel trailer project. My wife and I call it The Blue Beluga. We've been working on it for almost a year and are about to begin a 2 month trip to a bunch of national parks.

It's a 1969 Leisure Time.

The thing is, we had a really hard time identifying it because the VIN had never been registered, and we couldn't find any markings anywhere else.

Until we uncovered this on the back! It's where there used to be a brand emblem

We did a lot of this ^ trying to read it. Finally we decided the brand was Leisure Time

I found an old sales circular on eBay that showed the original font. Now we're getting somewhere!

Well I was a little sad that our trailer wasn't going to have a brand emblem. Esp with all those Shasta bitches flaunting their branding everywhere...

So I sent the font screenshot and a picture of the faded paint to a guy on Fiverr from Bangladesh.(shovon44 in case anyone needs some vector work). In just under an hour, he had traced the font and matched it to the faded paint picture.

YAY!

I got pretty excited. I sent the vector file to a bunch of custom chrome and emblem companies for quotes on getting a replacement made. $400 was the cheapest quote. No way was I going to pay that...

Instead, I'm testing out some 3D printing to see if I can perhaps print it in several pieces, with rivet holes. I'll probably paint it silver (If anyone has ideas on this, lemme know! I'm printing with PLA).

So now we're excited our trailer will actually have an identity!

Kinda cool though, right?

Faded paint + newspaper clipping on eBay --> Guy in Bangladesh + 3D printer = Replacement emblem!
