I used parts from 3 different shells I picked up when I was collecting ags units for the shell

the side with the 3.5mm port pokes out a bit because I didn't bother to bend the traces before installing it but it doesn't affect anything as the the others screws keep it in place.

as expected the funny playing ips v2 lcd is beautiful in the unit and beats the need for ags 101 lcd. :) sadly battery life is shortened quite a bit even on lowest setting.

3.5mm ≈ 138 thousandths of an inch

I got one of those custom ags-001, have had for the past 3 year. I use it mostly for LSDJ but haven't run into many battery longevity issues

As a matter of fact, it's actually the most stable gameboy I can use live, DMGs are cool and all, but they get fucky too fast at times

I put mine together using parts from my experiments with ags units and got what you see from it :3

How does it compare to the 101? Brightness/image quality ?

it blows away the 101 entirely. there are many comparison videos between the two and i have to say v2 ips is definitely better.

The IPS V2 is infinitely better in terms of picture quality.

However, the AGS-101 has far better battery life. An IPS GBA SP has about 5 hours of battery life on normal brightness.

The AGS-101 has about 10 hours of battery life on OEM 700mAh battery.

Thanks! I've only ever had the 101. Would it make sense to mod that with the v2, or find an old 100 beater?

fun fact, i actually pioneered the line level out for the SP.

I'm not sure what you mean, could you explain.

A lot time ago when people started modding gameboys I was the one who figured out the headphone jack for the SP

interestingly enough I documented the pin put for the 2ds 3.5mm layout all on my own, it was only later I found out others did similar mods.

ah awesome! well done! i never got as far as the DS modding, but i love the 101 SP, a really nice design.

actually this is an ags 001 using the funny playing after market display. it's hundreds of times better.
