You have to have a cleared road to use the road markings.
They can see down between the attachment and the tractor. As they clear the road, they see a little further and keep on the asphalt.

I've seen mine trucks and civil use gps, they may have a larger satellite somewhere near by that connects to the computer in the cab.
or the roads are there. so as long as they have the center line they don't need fine resolution. find the road and use your eyes
