You were right. It's a mixture of different fish and not just bonito.

Thanks for the guess, I guess I will have to just boil them and see if it tastes like fish. The dried flakes look more like a plant though.

well, the logo looks like a fish. it must therefore be dried fish something, bonito or otherwise. use them to make dashi.
