My Favorite Cover Songs

So I thought I'd start off with one that's not even a little bit controversial. If you like Lord of the Rings or the movie score (probably among the greatest of all time), if you even like making bad impressions of Gollum, or if you're a human being, you should take a listen to this Acappella rendition. Halo theme- Lindsey Stirling and William Joseph

I'm a huge fan of the Halo series in general. It was a genre defining series for sure. And the musical score for it was fantastic. I used to keep the game on the menu just to hear the Gregorian chanting. In any case, Lindsey Stirling nailed this as did Mr. Joseph. Impeccably replicated and beautifully rendered. Definitely one of my favorites by her.

Magic- Walk off The Earth

You probably know this group from the video where they play “Somebody That I Used to Know” on different parts of one guitar. Anyway, I've always been skeptical of rap covers. This one made me a believer.

-Mirrors- Boyce avenue ft. Fifth Harmony

I almost feel like this should be Fifth Harmony ft. Boyce Avenue. I'm not a huge fan of Fifth Harmony but after listening to this, there's a strong case to be made that they are talented. I really like the feel of this song, and I've listened to it at least 50 times already. If you liked this one, check out their cover of Teenage Girl too. Alejandro nailed it.

Even if you don't care for One Direction, the concept behind how they play the piano is worth it alone. I don't think you'll regret watching this video. It's their most popular to date, and for good reason. I'm a huge fan of this group in general. High quality stuff through and through.

Turrent Opera/Cara Mia- Accapellarecords

Maybe I'm just fanboying over Portal. Witty banter, fantastic cheeky humor, and logic based puzzles-what's not to love? This is a remake of the Opera at the end of Portal 2. Some people didn't like the use of autotune/pitch correction. I think it works because it's a robotic symphony they're emulating. But the main singer's voice is fantastic.
