Very cool video seeing the original lineup. The guitarist there is Ricky Wilson (the older brother of CIndy Wilson, the lady with the trademark big updo). After his untimely death in 1985, the original drummer (Keith Strickland) became their primary guitarist and stayed in that role until his retirement in 2012.

The B-52’s are from Athens, GA and there is a hockey team called the Rock Lobsters. https://rocklobstershockey.com/

Have them mixed up in the order. Cindy is on the left and Kate is in the middle.

I got to see them live at the Philadelphia Zoo in 1983. The girls changed outfits and wigs for every song. The Ramones opened. Good times!

After thinking about it for five milliseconds, I’ve come to the conclusion that, that must have been an awesome show.

Their greatness will never die. Here's a good retrospective: https://youtu.be/YN1quwTNPLo?si=LuYPhd9bJw1XtKvq

So this is why the mainboard of an Amiga 500 has rock lobster on it

Two things

1. Where did these eerie bass lines go we need them back?
2. How much inspiration were the B-52s to the gay movement?

Said it before and I'll say it again, Schneider had the best gig in history. Never played an instrument, never learned to sing, just got famous chanting his poetry to great beats.

Love the B-52s! To this day, they remain irritating in the best possible way.

Like the best rock acts of each era, their music demands attention; it stands out. It will never be “easy listening”. It still sounds as fresh and unique as it did when it was released.

I've often said, that if I was a secret government agent and I had secrets to divulge. All a foreign government would have to do is lock me in a room and play The B52s Love Shack, and I would cry and tell them everything I knew to make it stop. I'd be blubbering and begging g to make it stop before 20 seconds passed.
