Every doctor's office I go into now (and as an aging Boomer that is a lot) has a TV tuned to this one damned network.

"This house is perfect, but it's a 10min longer commute to work, next."

"I work myself to exhaustion every day doing hard labor. My budget is a small bag of Doritos." -me

I like the reno shows. The "I can't buy this house - the paint is the wrong color!!!!" people make me crazy. Also, House Hunters is fake.

I saw this as I'm sitting in a doctors office watching flip or flop

"I'm a kindergarten teacher and my husband hangs potatoes in the garage. Our budget is 1.5 million"

They always have conflicting wants too. " I want to be right downtown"... 2 seconds later..."it's a bit noisy"

We watch this just to mock them. Damn I love my sweetie!

There's literally nothing else on cable

But aren't the people on these shows getting a mortgage? So wouldn't they just have good credit scores

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You also need to prove a high income to get that large of a mortgage to prove you can afford it. Either that a massive down payment.

They used to have good ideas. Now it seems like shitty renovations, insulting your neighbors house, and looking at ridiculous shit

Don't forget the shrieking wives. So many shrieking wives...

Like pretty much every channel. Once upon a time TLC was decent, Discovery good, and History actually about history.

Yeah, I ditched cable in about 2008 so I only see it at the gym. The only thing I like is the show about incompetent survivalists.

"We have a max budget of $1,125,000... but I suppose we can stretch it to $1,500,000..."

I saw an episode where a couple had a budget this high and didn't buy a house all because they didn't like the paint color on the walls

Every. Fucking. Time.

They... they know you can repaint? Right?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess they figured since they're paying that much for a house, they shouldn't have to change a damn thing.

1/3 I briefly rented a property from a family that moved to Singapore and had been on HH Int'l. They stretched their $4K/m rental budget to

3/3 they offered when they wanted to break our lease and move back after 6 months. In the end, we left for $6K (again, b/w 4 people).

2/3 $5K to get the opulent, least kid-friendly option with 3 kids! Made it easy to refuse to leave their US house for the $2K (b/w 4 of us)
