“Just the way we were brought up,” he said. “You help your neighbor.”

that guy on the middle picture looks like Euron. He had much more important duties then the meeting...

I saw Cajun Navy trucks all over today. Thank you for coming out; we appreciate you beyond words.

weren't looters stealing their boats in order to loot, at gunpoint?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Houstonian... if we see you trying to shoot at or rob rescuers we will shoot you back.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that last photo is fake, not from this disaster.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i'm just wondering why its necessary for that tall black dude to be carried through knee-deep water

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard theyre packing their shit and leaving. Being duped into rescues only to be shot at and robbed by scum

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

This is exactly how it happened in Nashville in 2010 when we flooded. Good people exist!

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Reminds of mister Rogers. When ever there's is a disaster, look for the people who go in to help. That's a good neighbor.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"We just help our neighbor" said Joel Osteen never.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In aug 2016 Baton Rouge, LA flooded. These guys saved 100s of lives if not more. Good luck Texas, surviving is only the beginning.

That lady's got a deer in #2 ! How is no one talking about this?

Warms my heart to see this. Americans being there for each other.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Going stir crazy! Stuck at home for 3 days due to high waters

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm definitely a shoot back kinda guy. Especially since there's a lot of good folks trapped in there with those heathens.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just saw on the news that the Cajun navy is stepping down bc of gunshots from looters.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why is he looting a black guy?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

and what colour will he choose to paint him?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I live in Houston and they stopped the Cajun navy for now cause ppl pulling guns on them : /

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I would think that the Cajun navy would be more than capable of pulling guns themselves.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I'm more of a shoot back kinda guy, especially since there's good folks trapped in there with those heathens.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is very true. If I was down there, I would still go out to help, but with a few good, well armed friends.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now this is what America is about.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that kid paralyzed? Or too afraid to get wet feet? Goddamn.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait I thought all those guys were racist rednecks who are trying to destroy America and liberal snowflakes who are trying to destroyAmerica

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i appreciate and applaud what these guys r doing but that waters like ankle deep in that 1st pic, why is he carrying him?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Looks like he has very thin legs and the wheelchair would indicate handicap

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thank you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Should have gone by dragon.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Will do

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tell them be extra careful. The Cajun navy returned because ppl were faking being stuck to lure them into getting mugged.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lies

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Any of 'em members@of Osteen's "church"?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Houston resident here: Some assholes are shooting at them and trying to rob them.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

'Merica!

Why always dump on your own country? You need to read some world news sometimes. There's evil all over the planet.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ha, I'm a New Zealander, we're not perfect but one of the perks is getting to make fun of the US. How about that healthcare? =)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Ha, can confirm...American, College grad, employed, no health insurance for the last 7 years. +1 for you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

aww. It's only really funny in general terms... =(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Do you Americans just assume the rest of the world has no internet?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Coming from a country with tons of government agencies for disaster relief its kind of amazing how many "normal people" seem to be moving

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

freely in disaster areas. Weird, but amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The US is really fucking big. That means that our government response to things like this tends to be on the slow side. As a first (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

response, "help your neighbors," goes a hell of a long way. (2/2)

9 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 15

Well it was 10 years ago during katrina so....

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's on the Google News.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Literally on the front page of the internet. "This needs to be on the news."

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

(Something on the news) This needs to be on the news! Why isn't this on the news!?

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Yes, and MustangLover2 additionally wants ALL the other crap to be banned from the news.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This has been plastered all over the news non-stop. I know it's trendy to hate on the media, but they love shit like this.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

this is actually all i hear today on npr.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Yes NPR is built on human interest stories. So that fits.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is on the news; I've seen it reported several times today

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Confirmed. I've been watching news 24/7. Source: Houstonian

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here locally in Houston that’s all that’s on the news. Volunteers with trucks. Boats. Heavy construction equipments getting people out.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's on the local Houston news channels, not sure about national.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

All over national too

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

people getting along doesn't fit the media's narrative, though

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 14

The media has been reporting on people getting along during the entirety of the relief efforts, you guys are the ones with a narrative.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

So, sadly true.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

It's not the media's "fault," per se, but more of a fault of capitalism. Media companies are first and foremost companies. It sucks.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

So it's capitalism's fault that we like to consume negative media coverage?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, capitalism supplies what you want and pay for. It is not the system's fault but the consumer's.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't sell.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

All together now: FUCK THE NARRATIVE. Some people do good things., because they can. *Coughs* Thankyou.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Just an FYI, but the last pic is from the major flooding in LA last year. Still the Cajun Navy and still awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 221 Dislikes 2

Yeah, the sun hasn't been out.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So's the second image. But I was on imgur then, and I'll be damned if I saw anything about this.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

..... for a second there I was like "major flooding in Los Angeles" I'm border line retarded so I figured it out eventually. Cajun navy FTW!

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 3

I don't think you're borderline at all.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Full blown ;)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I still haven't figured it out

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

LA = Louisiana

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Oh okay thanks

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0
