Currently there is no real early warning for earthquakes or volcanoes...
When a volcano acts up, a geologist's usually pretty good at predicting if it is erupting or just a little gassy.
Not really, they can say "maybe" but the can never actually say when, their timescales are 100 years or more of "possible" eruption.
(2) plenty of lives so far and some volcanologists can know a volcano so well that they can predict eruptions almost to a tee.
A more dormant one is more difficult to predict but the active ones are easier to predict especially with modern technology. It's saved (1)
