be able to spell "circuit." I don't expect a soldier to spell pyrometallurgical but "sergeant" would be nice.

Taiwan. Used to be a year but now every born on/after 1995 serve 4 months. They're trying to move to an all-volunteer army.

If you have the right criteria your last 2 months are spent training for different MOS. Cooks, drivers, technicians, construction, etc.
I relearnt my Chinese which was pretty neat. At least I'm fluent in curses.
I think it's a valuable learning experience. Made me appreciate personal freedom a lot more. I didn't do a specialist training after BT tho.
