Honestly, on a deeper look he seems like a troll. There's a bunch of made up stories about his daughter's husband coming out as gay and leaving her, his friends that are a gay interracial couple being hardcore Republicans, etc... It is entirely possible he's doing it for laughs, but it's too far on the side of Trump praise to be taken as outright satire. :P
