You can clearly see skidmarks and smoke as the drive axles are completely locked up. This is also why he couldn't have swerved dramatically or he'd have fishtailed out of control. Even with ABS, swerving is a last ditch effort as a load shifting within a trailer can cause a roll over (obviously he has no trailer here, but the reflexes dont change)
I know theres a lot of unprofessional drivers out there, and a lot of you have had some bad experiences, but none ofnus are out here to injure or kill anyone. We just want to do our jobs and get home to our own families too.

They are intended to use the trailer breaking system as well. Cabs by themselves don't have very good breaking power.

Most trailers will lock up well before the cab does as most trailers don't have abs (none that I've hauled anyway).

From personal experience, a loaded trailer (with tandems properly positioned) is far easier to stop on a level surface.
