Another milestone!

Oct 28, 2016 5:04 AM

120 days ago I decided that I was hecking done with Vyvanse & prescription amphetamines in general. I took my Vyvanse when & as prescribed by my doctor for my first 90 days. As of today, I've been without ANY prescription stimulants for 13 days.
I'm proud as frick.
To my fellow addict,
You won't get clean until you're ready to do so for YOU. Trying to please others with your sobriety is not a good plan.
If no one has told you today, I love you.
I believe in you.
You fucking got this.
Love,
Roscoe

This is inspiring. Good job, OP.

Bit if you only took them when and as prescribed then it's not really an addiction is it.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That's a common thing with prescription pain killers. Taken as prescribed, so they don't realise when they've become addicted. Fine line.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Keep up the good work! I'm 118 days clean from heroin, cocaine and every other drug known to man lol. It works if you work it!!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

What about the non-prescipted ones?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's a negative, Ghost Rider.

If I may ask, how long did you take it while abusing it??? I’m trying to get off of it myself and having a hell of a time...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats. To the group: let's not put prescription amphetamines into a "bad" category. When prescribed properly, they are helpful drugs 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Same for all the narcotics really. Properly being key word :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

For people with certain disorder, like those with narcolepsy 2/2

As the husband of an amphetamine addict I'm glad you're getting there. Way to go

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats I've been sober a year yesterday from opioids. Its tough but you can do it!!! The worst is over.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, looks like you picked the right day to quit amphetamines?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was prescribed to 50 mg for years and finally off of them, i can guarantee you're going to feel better within the month. Keep it up OP!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man one of my buddies has been popping them like candy for 3 years of college now and it fucks with me. No prescription or anything

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i love you more!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats @OP, believe it or not, the hard part is over. I'm going on 11 years now.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm proud of you!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm proud of you buddy! The only advice I can give is find a motivator that is strong enough to keep you clean.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fallout 4 seems to do the trick. I can't get high if I never leave my apartment.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

1 year 7 months off opiates myself. Keep it up brother.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you going cold turkey on foul language too, you fucking cock sucker.

10 years ago | Likes 150 Dislikes 0

He was going so well until the final swear

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That one really threw me off.

You better hecking believe it.

Are you from Roscoe, IL by chance?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

San Diego, CA. I didn't know there was an entire town named after me!

Is that Timothy Olyphant?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Swearengen!!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I always wondered if it was intentional that he swore so much and his name sounded like Swear Engine.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He was actually based of a real person (like much of the show). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Swearengen

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that a good series?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, it's really great.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't take prescription amphetamines because of cost and I really miss them. Wasn't addicted, but they did make my life so much better.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Vyvanse is brand name. $40+ per 30-day refill.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does Vyvanse compare with Adderal?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The dextroamphetamine is bound to an amino acid. This prevents it from being ingested in anyway other than gastrointestinally

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where the hell are you getting a 30 day supply of Vyvanse for only $40?! It costs me $293 per 30 day supply!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With insurance?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My insurance must suck donkey balls. I'm applying for assistance through Shire Care. I'm hoping that goes through.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's rough. The problem is that there's no generic for Vyvanse. Shire is holding onto the patent with a vice grip.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

please remember those of you who want to say "stimulants aren't BAD," it's not about you. it's about OP. Congrats OP!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've been off the stuff for a couple years now. Totally worth it. Pro tip: to get over the initial withdrawals smoke weed :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

im on vyvansse now, and I loathe having to take it. I only use it when i know i will truly need it for that day. strange how different my e

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice, Im with you too Roscoe - 13 years no relapses :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If they weren't good for you, then that's awesome. But taking prescription stimulates AS PRESCRIBED isn't a bad thing. I take adderall 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Took vyvance since 3rd grade then switched to adderall in highschool, never abused it once its help me so much

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I agree. Prescription uppers are great for people that don't get the urge to abuse them. They worked fantastically for me initially.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Vyvanse fucking sucked for me. Couldn't stand the way it made my feel

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I also take adderall without abusing it. Its really helped me a lot over the years. It can be hard as hell to find in pharmacies though.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Most pharmacies carry it but say they are out if you're a new patient or if it's been less than 30 days from your last fill.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's easier than arguing about when someone should run out, and whether or not you should take the immediate released amphetamine daily.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There's pressure on pharmacies from DEA to not fill more than certain amount of C2s also...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

as prescribed by my doctor and it helps me to focus and work efficiently, instead of my mind wandering. No anxiety or paranoia. 2/3

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I've been prescribed all kinds, currently on adderal and functioning my best. Vyvanse made me anxious and not eat besides being focused

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Different drugs effect different people in different ways. That one just wasn't the right one for you. 3/3

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Same with xanax. It gets a bad rap but I've had my rx for 10 years with no issues. It's a lifesaver.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

We ADDers have different brain wiring than those without. Those without tend to abuse the meds since they do different things for them.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I don't think that's what "addict" means? Idk could be wrong. I thought taking your prescribed medications as you're told was... Normal?

How is using it as directed and prescribed abuse though?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wasn't using it as prescribed & directed though. I was taking multiple capsules per day; that's abuse. When I returned to the 1/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

prescribed amount (one cap per day), it was just normal use.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah ok sorry it's hard to get that out of the post. Good job getting clean man!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@op you still clean if so keep it up

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 months clean as of today! Thank you!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good for you keep it up

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know I'm late to the party, but I feel for you. I was also prescribed Vyvanse and, while I initially used it as prescribed to stay (1/?)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Focused at my difficult job in child welfare, I soon began abusing it to stay up all night and get more work done. My worst binge was (2/?)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A four day straight marathon of staying up all day and all night to get work done, only going home to change. Vyvanse can be a (3/?)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blessing, or it can be a curse. Congratulations, OP. I'm proud of you. (4/4)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to be prescribed vyvanse, frankly I couldnt imagine taking that much that often. It helped but it's exhausting.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah. The come down was brutal everytime. I would wake up exhausted so I would take more Vyvanse and then I couldn't sleep. Cyclic

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I took my Vyvanse when & as prescribed by my doctor

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

As a prescribed Vyvanse taker, may I ask what made you stop?

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

I tried my prescription and it filled me with horrible anxiety and paranoia

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was abusing the hell out of it for years. Over my birthday weekend, I went 3 days without sleep or food. It's put me in the hospital- 1/2

I'm not a user, but my mom was. She was the only adult living in the house at the time, and we had no idea how bad it really was 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Until it was way too late. She's clean now, thankfully, but it was a hard process for all of us. Maybe your family is in denial as well?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Kinda wish you'd put that into the post. It sounded at first like you were just calling anyone who needed them addicts.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I use Vyvanse.. but only on days I work. Or if I have to drive a really long distance. Other than that I need the break on the weekends.1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

So my script tends to last me about 1.5 months.... I once got a 90 script, that lasted like half a year. xD 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I use it every day and I feel normal. I must be super fucked up without it lmao

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

twice with pains in my chest. It was just time to give it up before I did anything irreversible to myself

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

What was your dosage?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Started at 30mg or 35mg, can't remember. Finished at 70mg.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've been thinking about stopping too. I don't abuse it, not in a typical sense anyway. I try to get too much done, which leads to me (1/3)

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

(2/3) cracking one open and taking half of it so I can push myself harder and focus more. But that's rare. Mainly I've become dependent and

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(3/3) if I forget to take it or run out the day becomes murky, dull, and I feel mentally slowed. It's bad man. I'd rather not NEED a drug.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Right there with you

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just know when to draw the line! I'm good at going cold turkey, so it works for me.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those effects get worse if you don't take "off days" to let your brain recover. Doopamine depletion is fairly common in meth addicts. 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Anhedonia is one of the worst sensations ever. Everything is muted over & virtually NOTHING can fix the sensation. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ask your doctor about Wellbutrin. No joke, it's amazing. Has a motivating effect but also acts as a craving curver.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Vyvanse is that way too. I've slightly looked in to Wellbutrin but I might research it further. I don't like switching meds though lol

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Update* - I just realized I'm basically using it like speed. This is a moment of clarity.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Here's hoping your moment of clarity helps to lead you in the direction of another alternative!
