From the second and last shoot I ever did with this company. 2012 era. Actually was around this time that summer too. How fitting.

I really enjoyed myself on this shoot. It was a group event but he spent more time with me than most. We had great lighting and I was one of the few models with experience there. I got lucky on my time slot landing right when the sun was best at that location.

They put me in an authentic bomber jacket, hat and scarf. It was super cool. The rest of the vintage outfit parts were mine.

I love this shot. Its so weird because I don't look like me, but it's neat that I know for a fact it WAS me.

It was so fucking bright lol I couldn't open my eyes for shit here with that sun on my face. We were going for that "gun in the garter" kinda thing but I only had the fishnets lol

"is THIS how you start the plane?" I had to touch it without actually touching it lmao they were SO PRESSED ABOUT THIS TOO. Acting like I was a bull in a porcelain shop every time I went near it. It was like "do you want me to pose with this or not? Fuck"

posing is so silly sometimes. I assure you, I'm not actually gripping it like it looks here. I'm barely making contact lol

One of my favorite shots from the day though. The sun is just right.

The direct sunlight + the fishnets shows how porcelain pale I am here lol

I annoyingly got pink eye from this shoot. Distinctly remember the moment too. It was from being in the direct sun like this-the makeup they did melted off my face into a bead of sweat that landed right in my eye. It was bullshit lol theater makeup is full of germs and bulk photoshoot makeup is at the same status as fucking theater makeup-so many different people have used it. I learned I can't wear dirty makeup like this with my allergies/mcas anyway.

Don't worry, Finger was never on the trigger, the glove just makes it kinda look like it is bc my hands are slightly too small for my vintage gloves.

Featuring some more of that classic awful logo placement from Capital bombshell. We were going for the gun in the garter look, only with it stuck in the fishnets instead.

I sincerely hate guns though and only enjoy them in videogames.

Trying to embody a pinup pose while next to an actual pin up painting was intimidating.

I couldn't emulate the pose exactly without losing balance, so I went for this. He actually got irritated that my toes weren't pointed down enough here -_- saying "always be pidgeon toed" when posing. That's not even applicable to this pose really and the body language of the pose isn't what I was going for anyway...

Literally getting to BE a pinup girl was a highlight of my modeling. This was more fun than the car one. I even had my kid and partner on set for this one. My mom was with me for the first one.

I'd love to do something like this again, should I have the opportunity. My mom's late friend sponsored this one for me, because I certainly couldn't afford it and was bummed about it.

There's additional lore surrounding the ugliness of why I never worked with Luigi again, but I'll leave it off unless someone is curious and asks.

They were like "pfetend to spin it but don't actually touch it." And keeping balance in heels in grass like this was tedious, so we get this awkward shit lol my heel was IN the grass.

When your mechanic doesn't have their glasses on and is just doing their best.

"pretend you're working on it but don't actually touch it." Meanwhile, I'm literally blind without glasses and can't see a fucking thing, to even fake working on something right, especially with the sun in my face. I had NO idea wtf I was even trying to do here lmfao

This results in some stupid shit like this. You couldn't see the tool well if I held it properly and again, I couldn't see shit and I wasn't allowed to actually touch any of it lol

Posing is stupid as hell sometimes, I swear. Especially when it comes to pinup photography because the unspoken part of the fantasy is you're supposed to just an object to oogle, to be a "pretty dumb thing"

I wanna do an authentic pinup shoot with my textile scraps and needles and shit one day lol or my art supplies in general. I should do that in the next year.

Your commentary on this post is pure gold. Pink eye, allergies, not having glasses and having to wield a wrench without touching the plane. Posing is stupid as hell. This is far more interesting than just posting pics and calling it a day.

Behind the scenes moments at photoshoots are usually the most interesting part of the experience lol but that can be said about almost any endeavor. I've always loved the "behind the scenes" candid parts of life way more than the socially scripted bullshit.

We got to see some in flight and it was really neat.

They make a great noise! We have a Waco and that big round engine is wonderful!

#8 I get so irritated when the model is pantomiming the tool use and it's so blatantly awkward or wrong.

But what I fail to consider is that the model is being blinded by sun or studio lights and not wearing their glasses and probably has some photographer yelling conflicting instructions and just trying to get the shoot done and saying just do this no one will notice.

So thank you for some new perspective. These shots are wonderful.

Oh yeah, once I started modeling I had a big perspective shift lol we are handed props just because they look cool sometimes lol they don't even make sense half the time. When I dress a set myself I try to keep things cohesive enough to the constraints of what I've got on hand. You can build a cool as set with a handful of vintage items. But yeah, most of the time, we know it's fucking stupid lol. The shoes I'm wearing for the car one are like 4 sizes too big on me, but *angles*

100% that too. It's so fucking frustrating when you know how it works, or how you'd actually pose, but it doesn't work for the shot. Modeling is less about accuracy and more about being a living embodiment/artistic rendition of an ad for something, even if that something is just a mood.

Omg that's such an amazing compliment, thank you. I used to do USO shows in highschool for vocal ensemble and we dressed all vintage for it. It certainly got some unexpected compliments when the usually goth kid showed up to school for a performance as a 40's dolled up dame with red lipstick lol

You clearly crush the full breadth of pin up play and a wide range of what being a gorgeous woman can mean, Goth to sexy, patriotic, anti fascist. I hope you and yours are doing well and have plenty of play and goodness in your lives!

And the irony is I don't even identify as a Woman so that adds an extra wrinkle to it all lol

I really do love these and the effort you put into them as the model. I'm a little bummed that a professional photographer couldn't expose for your skin tone and keep it from looking distracting and blown out a bit. 10/10 model work with absolutely terrible conditions in place.

Thank you. You can only do so much as the model sadly. That's usually my luck though lol

I'm the opposite of whatever your photographer was doing about the foot thing. Like, can't bend your feet the right way? How else can they be posed to also look killer? Also, my guess is they couldn't, or didn't want to, pay for the insurance on the plane so their only work around was "don't touch, it but do, but don't actually, but we need you to look like you are, but you can't, but we need you to".

Yeah, the owner of the plane was there. We were on location of where they stored them or something and did flights. It was a wild ass experience lmao. I don't mind helpful direction, especially when it comes to my positioning (bad proprioception with the EDS and I can't tell I'm being hypermobile half the time.) My most common feedback is to put my chin down. I always think it's gonna make it look worse but not from their POV.

Have you ever shot with someone who has a tether set up so you can also see what is being shot? One of the more helpful things I've picked up. Having a model be able to see themselves clearly is a huge advantage as, like you said, models often don't have the same perspective at that moment.

Nope, I've used mirrors in shots and had that to go off of before. Other than that the closest was being able to look at the camera after. It's why I do all my self shot stuff with my forward facing camera even though it's lower quality. Being able to see myself is paramount to being able to pose properly and get the good shot. I love using a gesture to active a timer for how I currently do things. Used to have a really nice camera but the phone is technically better quality these days.
