32. Hat Tax (The ship I served on)

This was originally posted as a single image, with the salaries in random order. A cry went out among imgurians, "WHY DID YOU NUMBER THEM IF THERE'S NO ORDER?" So, I did what I am destined to do.

I cut the single image into 31 pieces. I removed the numbers. And, for the listed annual salaries, I used the Interwebs to find out how many episodes/shows per year are produced and did the math. In the case of Fallon, Rippa and Seacrest, and Ellen, the episode counts *do* include days off with substitute hosts. So, when Joe Schmoe sits in for [x], I still counted it toward the total. Then I put them in order from lowest pay to highest. Well, the hat doesn't get paid anything.

YES, IT'S A REPOST! That's kind of the point! Get over it. People asked for it, I delivered it. If you don't like it, move on. Don't be a whiner.

Thank you.
*derp*

FP EDIT: Thanks! Um, send… what? Whooo… Send ?? AH! I got it. Send your favorite architectural features. I am partial to interesting materials and odd roof lines. Or, you know, donate to a food pantry. Who knows, it may be the one I use.

Thanks for your service, shipmate! I was Strike Fighter Squadron 102 (VFA-102) aboard CV-63 (The Kitty Hawk aka The Shitty Kitty).

Roseanne made 250,000 an episode...right 25 years ago...that would be a much larger figure today...That show was genius until the final year

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And we'll find out soon. ABC is bringing it back in the fall for a (HOPEFULLY) limited run.

One episode for me would be like winning the lottery.

USNS SUPPLY, AOE-6! Fast combat support FTW!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Man, at least yours is still floating. I was a CTI3 (But don't tell anybody, we weren't there, it's a secret!) back in '86.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For some reason I thought the list started with highest paid first, and was just more & more amazed at how much tv actors are paid!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fum Fact: Judge Judy's net worth is around $400 million dollars.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bazinga! Hehe.. pay me a million dollars

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

I was literally moved to tears the first time I saw the talent poured into that show. Truly a landmark in human history. Bazinga, my friend.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So Jimmy Fallon makes about $10 for every joke he ruins. Seems a bit much.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't even comprehend making half a mil a year let alone multiple millions. I'd be willing to try though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder what its like to have money.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You, me, and everyone else on imgur. Honestly, if we had money, would we be doing this? Honestly? Honestly?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yay capitalism and advertisements.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I have but one regret in life. That I was not born as Pat Sajak and make the easiest bank in the biz.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't get it, he has the personality of a fridge

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is just fucking disgusting, considering what teachers, nurses, police, etc. have to live on.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No one that isn't saving and helping lives, deserves that much money. Just sayin

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If a show is popular enough to sell 10 million worth of ad space, no one deserves a chunk of that money

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No one deserves that much money period. I will agree those saving lives should make more than average though not less.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And people say athletes are over paid

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They do. And yet major stars are under paid. TV is even easier, you can tie a value to a performer based on screen time, ratings/ad sales

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Is this before or after taxes? Because tax on $10M is about $4M, if you don't hide it all.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I assume it's the contract amount, so it would be before taxes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a really nice name for a ship

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People who entertain the masses, throw them all the money! Oh. This group, willing to die for them, shitty healthcare and bad pay for life!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

My thoughts exactly. That is not just entertainment money, that is "keep the lower class occupied" money right there.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Money makes money, TV shows are one of America's biggest exports.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, I mean, I get that, but one doesn't really negate the other

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thanks for your service, shipmate

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is pretty out of date. Top 5 highest paid actors in game of thrones are making 1.1 mil per episode now,

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

1.6 million, actually.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Some of these salaries are not adjusted for 2017. Which means the order will change a lot

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. TBBT, GoT both went up overall. I didn't look up the rest, really. My guess is a lot of the current ones went up after contracts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Outlander is a good show. And has boobs.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

And torture, followed by anal rape.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go on...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well GOT can enjoy it while it lasts, their last episode could've happened at any time. I'm sure Sean Bean thought he landed a good run.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

The only thing Sean Bean can hope for is cutsceenes about people remembering things about him after he dies, so he still has a role to play

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Wait, what? Do you actually think he went, "Nah I don't need to read the contract/script. I'm famous, they won't axe me a few episodes in"?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If that happened to anyone else that might be a possibility. But if fucking Sean Bean didn't consider dying he deserved it :p

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any actor worth their sort would research a role before taking it. He knew Neds days were numbered from the get go.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm certain he agreed to it knowing he'd be killed and wouldn't be tied into a TV show for too long.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fun fact. Judge Judy is actually making $900K a day while working. She only works 52 days a year and is the highest paid daytime TV star.

9 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

Good for her.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She has a house in Ft Myers. Pretty nice in person.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She's also worth $290 million.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You should see the case where the girl sues her obese friend for sitting on her toilet and breaking it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She single?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remeber when the cast of 'Friends' made $1,000,000 per episode?

9 years ago | Likes 580 Dislikes 1

Remember when Charlie Sheen was paid $1.8 million per episode for Two and a Half Men?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The North remembers.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I member

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 3

Ooooh, member Chewbacca?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I member when... I member....

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And Seinfeld was offered $5 million per episode to do one more season but said no.

9 years ago | Likes 233 Dislikes 0

Given his net worth is close to $1B because of syndication I don't worry much about Jerry Seinfeld's financial security.

9 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 1

Why isn't that on the list, but other old-ass shows like Roseanne and Will & Grace are? This is a weird list.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Both Will & Grace and Roseanne are getting a revival. I think the salaries are for the upcoming new episode.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That was more than 10 years ago. Adjusted for inflation, that's like a bajillion dollars.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The 90's was the time to be a tv star. Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt also made $1mill per episode of Mad About You. The cast of Seinfeld made..

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

And they only released the whole series on DVD last year...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1mill per episode. Tim Allen made 1.2 per episode of Home Improvement. Kelsey Grammer made 1.6mill for Frasier, Ray Romano made 1.7 for...

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Everybody loves Raymond.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ted Danson was something like $500k per episode in 1990.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's what Big Bang is pulling now.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The lowest common denominator.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I remember right they were going to be. But agreed to a pay cut so that they would all be on the same.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They got the mill, then took a paycut later to help give Mayim and someone else a raise

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*Cue CBS Laughtrack*

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

And now it's just Katy Perry. *sigh*

9 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 3

Nah those Game of Thrones actors make like 1.5-2 mil per episode now

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

But the seasons are shorter. Plus inflation

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but, what's the inflation on Friends?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

About 55lbs

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

v

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I saw that after I wrote this. $1.6 million per episode each on GoT.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You forgot Tim Allen for Home Improvement.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I didn't forget him. I didn't compile the list. I just put them in order.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well, Tim should be in 2nd then because even way back when, he was getting a mil an episode.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

So were the cast of Friends. Again, it's not *my* list. If you want to get nuts, let's talk Oprah, m'kay?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Plus these are current shows. On right now. Not past stuff. Yes they are remaking Rosanne. God help us.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo....................ooooOOOOHHHH SHIT! WHY???

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

There's a lot of overpaid mother fuckers here! Am I right?

9 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 5

Yup.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mark Harmon's earned his, to be sure, though I am surprised he's not ready to retire by now. But there are a few in that list way overpaid.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ryan Seacrest and Big Bang Theory, for certain.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have no idea how the world works, do you?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

The more people a product reaches the more cash that is generated simple.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

There's a problem when entertainers are valued so much higher than people who sacrifice their own well being for others.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

In ol' good Roman Empire entertainers were just tad more respected than whores.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you watch TV?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The more wide spread a product the more money it produces. Everybody knows celebratiea they are reaching alot of ppl alot of money thats how

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shit works the more ppl who r3ceive the service the more monies that is produced
