surprises me that they're willing to risk marching double-reeds (the bassoons). our oboe and bassoon players were switched to different instruments during marching season. if you fall, there's really nothing to stop the two little wooden reeds from slicing directly through your palate.

For anyone who has never played an instrument, what you're seeing is damn near impossible. Maintaining proper breath control and embouchure (position and shape of the mouth) while also dancing... really well...in tight synchronous formation is like doing trigonometry while skiing moguls.
Is there some requirement that all the flute players have to be in the back, all the tuba players have to be in the back, all the bassinet players have to be together?
