Beeing doing visual astronomy for a good decade and recently gotten the right gear for photography, still relatively new at this so they're not NASA quality
These were all taken from my backyard in QLD Australia.
Equipment used are:
ED80 @ f/6.5
HEQ5 Pro Guided
Canon 450D Modded, 500D

Cant do astrophotography without them unless you can stop the earth from spinning ;)

@OP, did you have to set the gear out all night to get these? I know nothing about photography but I adore Space stuff.

It takes about 30 minutes to set everything up and align the mount. But the whole process takes all night, weather permitting.

each photograph consists of multiple frames at long exposures (5min) and are stacked together to get the most data and minimise noise.

Its a bit more expensive in Australia but second hand it was about 1100 aud.
