According to girlsnotbrides.org: “According to the Iranian Statistics Center, between 2021 and 2022, there were at least 27,448 recorded marriages of children below the age of 15 .” And those are only the recorded marriages.

I could be wrong, but I think the intent is to remind that this isn't a "plucky hero tells off dumb villain" situation. Depressing to think about, but this is just two evils taking shots at each other, with Iran being far more skilled at it.

You are wrong, because it's actually about a person in the US falling for the decades-long anti-Iran propaganda used to excuse the eventual war they are now undertaking.
Whatever the realities about Iran actually are (and not the feigned reality you see in the bloodthirsty Empire's media), they didn't bomb a school full of children. So the comparison doesn't even come close to the atrocities the US commits daily. We are ruled by pedophiles, for god's sake. We are humanity's enemy.

It's not really comparable, Iran allows marriages to children as young as 8 legally, and marriages of adult men to 13 year old girls is common. In the USA the age of consent is 16-18 depending on the state.

Just some quick numbers on marriages per year, looks like we have about 15,000 child brides in the US every year, and roughly 4x the marriages that Iran has (with 3.5x the population). That's comparable. It's less, but it's not so much less as to be incomparable. But you know what, I bet if we controlled for the number of religious fundamentalists involved in the child marriages, I bet it would come out pretty much even. Fundies gonna fundie, whatever book they like best.

Several states overturned the age minimums for marriage as long as there is parental consent since Trump's 1st term. Over states never had a minimum age.

Kansas and Hawaii allow marriage as young as 15. California, New Mexico, and Mississippi have no statutory minimum age requirement for marriage. West Virginia and Wyoming only set the age to get married there to 16 in 2023. Previously there was no minimum. There are several other states that it was only raised to 16 or above within the last decade. This is all very easy to look up.

Child marriage to adults is common in Iran and not in the USA. You are comparing the wrong things, because these things are defined differently in the two countries. You want to compare the age of consent in the USA to marriage age in Iran. In Iran, there is no age of consent because sex itself is illegal outside of marriage. In the USA the age of consent still applies to marriage, so if there is a low or no marriage age in a state, still only two children could technically get married.

I am not comparing age of consent. I am comparing the legal age to get married in the USA to that of Iran. It varies from state to state. Two are as low as 15, three others have no statutory minimum age. But those three do require judicial approval and parental consent to the marriage.

Many states statutory rape laws have exemptions for married couples. Forced marriages for sexually assaulted children absolutely happen in this country "legally". Yes, it's undoubtedly worse in Iran. No none of this has anything to do with Trump wanting to fuck Greenland like he fucked kids
