Can we all just stop pretending like anything is going to change in 2017?

Sorry for the tacky ecard, but it's true. I can't be the only one that is already sick of seeing these "can 2016 just be over already?" posts, everywhere lately. I feel like anyone who subscribes to this notion the new year is somehow a fresh start, is just setting themselves up for disappointment. Which then leads to more cynicism...which slowly fades off into apathy and depression by mid year. And then we will do it all again at the end of next year. It's a pretty broken ideology. Do yourself a favor and maintain a constant level of cynicism throughout the year. Just enough to keep you grounded. And stop acting like a holiday has any impact on your life, at all.

You could always try to think mmmmm, optimistically?

Things only have a chance of changing when I make a change

Lots of things will change in 2017. Mostly calendars, but still...

What you mean "pretend"? Things do change. You get older and less capable of many things each year.

At the end of 2015 there wasn't nearly this much negativity. It was still exciting. End of 2016 yeah tons of negativity.

It's understandable. I guess wanting this year to be over isn't really the bad part. It's acting like anything is going to get better.

I'm not quite sure why people seem to regard the election of Donald trump as being the worst part of this. We may be ending this year on a 1

Bad note with the election and all, but next year BEGINS with the inauguration. So IMHO next year is going to be much worse. 2
