I get it. I’m fat. People don’t understand how difficult it is to exercise with chronic pain. And PCOS to add insult to injury.
jessiepinkman
I've had severe chronic backpain for 9 years and I understand all about trying to exercise with it...so many forms i just can't do now and2/
Yep. And if you’re fat or need a handicap placard, people just think you’re lazy. It sucks.

My grandad had MS, and my dad has MS. I'm starting to display some symptoms of CIS and I'm terrified.
betmcc19721
Don't people w MS lose a lot of weight from the disease?
AttilaMadeMeDoIt
It depends. Some lose weight from many factors and some gain weight. Most common weight gain factor is steroid therapy. Second is depression
discorage
No. I've lost over 100 pounds but it's because I stopped drinking like an idiot.
Dickslover
High doses of steroids to combat the inflammation can lead to weight gain in some individuals.
sweetlittlebee
No. One of my best friends has it and had been fighting to lose weight. Three of the people that I took care of had weight problems.
I think it depends on the person and what type of MS that have, their medications, and the severity of it.
God I wish MS allowed me to lose weight.
mephiston
Look into something like DDP Yoga maybe. I've seen people get results on that who have MS.
I love my local hot yoga studio, but I'm currently battling an infection, on week 3 and am on strict orders from doc that's a no go for now.
Aeonika
The DDP guy has one for yoga you can do in a chair and bed as well, might be helpful once your doc says ok.
dang. get well soon, dude. I've had a chest infection for the last 6 weeks and am banned from exercise so i know the feeling.
Thanks dude, you too! Hot tea, lots of water, zinc, vitamin c, and whatever meds they've got you on! ♡

This might be silly, but have you tried the yoga app down dog? It’s all levels & great! Might be good if you can’t get to the studio :)

I got lipo in my abdomen so I could do physical therapy. Omg what a difference.
Literally I want it for my lower torso for my back and legs. Getting up and down is getting harder and harder.
Unless you get a specialist, they never take off as much as they really can. Wish I had researched more beforehand.

Tried to cut out fast food.
Yeap. Even have quick make foods at home for when I can barely move from pain. Hard boiled egg whites, bagels with schmear, salads..
DangrebeTheMangrebe
Bagels and cream cheese are super bad for you and way too caloric
However dark leafy greens make the IBS worse, grains bloat my stomach, and anything with a seed tears me up.
Also need to stay away from red meats, sulfur foods, and that leaves mostly chicken and fruit. With fruit being full up on sugars. :(
Building muscle will also help burn more fat (or let you eat more) so even beginner workouts are key
Look up and calculate your TDEE, total daily energy expenditure, and it will tell you how many calories to eat for good weightloss
Eat veg, mushrooms, fish, egg whites. Most importantly stop eating so much. Count calories, overestimate intake, under estimate limit.
Yeah portion control and calorie counting are where I'm at right now. Doesnt help when my partner doesnt understand the need for portions.
montechia
Have you talked to your primary care physician? It's amazing what you can do if it's approved by a doctor. <3

Exercise when I can, baby, gastro, move on with my life.

Yes. Multiple sclerosis is a disease on the nervous system, making everything in the neural network less effective including your muscles.

Carrying around extra weight puts a lot of stress on your body. Grab 10-20kg of stuff and try walking around with it all the time.
Then imagine a lot of people carry 2-3x more weight all the time, even when sitting around etc
soundnote8
Only temporarily. Eating habits are what keep the weight up, and nobody's outrunning their fork unless they're super active as athletes.
You have a point but don't have to be super athletic to keep a healthy weight. If that's what someone considers attractive is another story.
I meant that you need to be really athletic to outrun bad eating habits, not that you can't achieve a healthy weight while being lazy.
Oh yeah if your eating habits are bad then it doesn't matter how good you are in the gym. It's going to affect your body badly.

Can lipo do that much though? What about lap band surgery?
If you get liposuction, the weight will just come back the same way it came in the first place: From how you eat. The body is 1/?
11/? It was mindblowing. No starvation, no nothing. Just eat a little less, and do that consistently, and 10kg/22lbs would just slowly melt
6/? it needs an energy input to maintain. Overeating yourself into being fat and the fat just kinda staying there is not a thing - if you
10/? I'd need ~2400kcal/day to sustain my existence at that weight. For 84-ish kg, the upper end of the healthy weight range? 2200kcal/day
4/? big as the wood intake can maintain since it's constantly burning wood. A living creature is the same: Food is fuel, and if we're too
9/? how much I was eating and how much I had to cut was how small a cut would cause a big difference: I'm largely sedentary, at ~95kg/210lbs
8/? burn the fat off to maintain its bigger size if you only put in enough to maintain a smaller you. One surprise I had when figuring out
7/? have too much weight, you're actively maintaining it. All that's needed to get rid of it is to stop maintaining it - the big body will
12/? off over time. It's such a small cut, but with a big impact. The cut also doesn't have to happen in one go - all that's needed is that
3/? But if you start putting Nwood/15min into the bonfire, it will start to shrink until it is just a campfire again - the fire is only as
2/? like a campfire: You steadily put in N pieces of wood per 15min, you keep a campfire going. Put 3N, it swells into a bonfire.
14/? because as long as you get back on track, the mistake will get erased just as the initial weight was.
5/? big, it's because we keep putting in too much food. Our fat is made up of living cells that have a metabolism just like any other, ie.
13/? you put in less fuel than your big body needs to exist, and do that consistently. Will you slip and overeat? Yes, and that's no biggie,
TheRicM

Lipo is a medical proceedire with ALL the risks of such, and if you do decide to do so you must be 100% sure of the facility to do it 2/3
There are 2 paths for this proper diet and exercise or the surgery. Either way you will get results, but you have to maintain either way.3/4
Before undergoing surgery he sure to look into other exercise routines such as water therapy or swimming low impact and resistance helps.4/5
Before you get surgery if you decide to still start a diet and exercise routine. It will help you keep the weight off successfully good luck

Just FYI, lipo is a major surgery. It can take 6 months to recover. And if you don’t have your diet in-control, you’ll regain it all in that
Time. Look into newer techniques than lipo, there’s a few that have shorter recovery times (2-3 weeks). But should still work on diet first.
Trying to just do calorie restriction right now. It's just hard because my macros are out of whack from what I can/can't eat.
