Owl

Blatant repost. I know I'm a dick, but these are actually really helpful. Especially the owl.

Wait...where the how to draw dicks?!

That owl is more helpful than you'd think. It doesn't hold your hand while you draw, it liberates the artist while offering a starting point

+1 for the damn owl that I still can't draw.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Instructions clear....I am an artist now.

"Imagine shading a bean." I don't know how to shade a bean...

11 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Imagine you do.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Step 1: Have the motivation to sharpen pencils

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Or get a drawing tablet. No need to sharpen ever again!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Preach it!

Forgavorite

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Oh it looks so simple. Just like getting a 6 pack in 4 weeks. Piss

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

You just need to learn methods for seeing proportions and color, and preferably a painting medium that is forgiving (like digital with undo)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

* and I mean as painting a subject from a photo or real life. Memorising anatomy and painting right out of the head is tough.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

To be honest, with proper council and guidance I think majority of people could learn to replicate all of the above in 4 weeks.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Reference game on point.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there a word for that negative drawing where you erase instead of draw

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Step 1: Sketch rough shape. Step 2: Beautifully lifelike drawing. But actually these are great. Have a +1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is how I found out my ears are weird.

Found it on Google Images so I don't know

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's how to draw a circle, start with the head.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was looking for this lol

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

How many hours did you spend shading that?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Like 3 hours

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

traditional art a long time depending on your skill but i assume its easier if you can erase or go back or idk on a computer

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BUT HOW DO I DRAW FEET??

11 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 5

With a pencil

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only draw characters in really heavy boots. Or become one of those brony people. Hooves look real easy to draw.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Actual hooves? Kinda. The weird marshmallow legs that MLP ponies have? Yeah.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Rob Liefeld could help you for that.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I showed my boyfriend some of my life drawings I did in college and he said they always looked like bricks with toes :(

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck feet

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't. You draw owl slippers instead https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e3/7a/d9/e37ad9946493d19e947997e45461cc73.jpg

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are a wonderful human being. This is actually something I struggle with. Thank you so much!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Study feet.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

This.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Triangles are the key.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

By staring at your own. A lot.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I like George b Bridgman's constructive anatomy. It's a pretty small book and you can pick it up off amazon. ~$10 and covers a lot.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best advice to draw anything: Draw what your eyes see, not what your brain thinks they see. Look at shapes, not form...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

...understanding the forms help, but you're not recreating a 3D object, you're making a 2D representation. So, only draw what you see.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Draw what you see, not what your mind thinks you see

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

but how can our eyes be real if our minds aren't real?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

whoa

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless you're trying for anything that isn't realism. Or else picasso woulda been on some hard drugs,

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually what I tell my students to do :)

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yep my art teacher taught me it when i was about 12 and it's pretty much the single best thing anyones ever told me about art

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Think of a cowbell and go from there
