I'm studying zoology in college because I love animals, I have 3 dogs and a cat and was raised on a farm, so animals are my life really. Of course I don't like the job but it's a relatively small family business and work is work, so it makes me sad when people get the wrong idea.

I can't blame him really, I guess I deserved it.

All the sheep skins and cattle hydes are taken away monthly to make leather, so we salt them to preserve them, but it sucks so bad doing this because the salt goes in your cuts and it stings like a motherfucker.

Beef fat smells terrible and working with it all day it tends to go right into your fingerprints and it's hella difficult to get out. I really didn't want my date to think I smelled like fat, for obvious reasons. So I thought the powerhouse might work, stupid I know but DO NOT DO THIS.

You know the skin around a sausage? Well if it's a good quality sausage that skin should be the small intestine of a sheep. It needs to be separated from the rest of the organs by hand and it's pretty common to find one of these bad boys trying to hitch a ride.

Cattle can get pretty upset when they're in a tight space, but I managed to shimmy between the two walls like a ninja, narrowly missing obliteration.

In fairness to the man, the room where the hydes are stored smells pretty rank and I've become really desensitised to bad smells. I still laughed my ass of when he ran out the door spewing though.

It happens. It sucks. That is all.

FUCK TAPEWORMS RIGHT BACK TO NOPEFUCKTHATISTAN

The sheep realising it was about to die saddens me.

Two parts!

11 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Maybe just one. No pigs were mentioned.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If meat-eating people give you shit for working there, call them out on their hypocrisy.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thank you for sharing these stories :)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Screamed at little bit at Tapeworm. Not ever going to look at a sausage in the same way

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read the thing about the tapeworm and just hit the right arrow. Came back to make this comment and scrolled down as fast as I could. +1

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The fucking tapeworm omfg that's some actual horror movie shit right there

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Powerhose- for when you need that deep clean right down to the bone!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel like a lot of these could be solved by the occasional pair of gloves

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Butcher here. Used to get calls about how they don't like that we sold rabbit. "So lamb, cow, pig, chicken, and turkey are okay because..?"

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

i know you probably don't cut yourself anymore, but when/if you do, do you rub salt on your cuts?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

We have a sink filled with diluted cleaning solution. If I get cut, I just dip my hands in there. Salt, as OP noted, would be awful.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh I know it's awful. But a friend of mine said he's put salt on a cut and it wasn't sore the next few days because it killed everything.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This would be better if you said you said your job description was beating the meat.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 9

I feel that a lot of the problems you deal with could be solved by proper equipment... But that might just be my naivety.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I did butcher work. Gloves actually make the job harder. If you're skilled you won't cut yourself

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Powerhouse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfDqR4fqIWE

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Man I haven't heard that in a while. The "special effects" overlay thing is killin me...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OMG my friend is gonna be working in a slaughter house, fun stuff

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are there any concerns of infection with all your cuts being around shit, intestines and raw flesh?

11 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 2

It's pretty common for butchers to rub salt on their cuts immediately after because it helps kill lots of bacteria and germs. It does hurt!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why not soap or anti bacterial ointment instead?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work with sheep. Yes you can get infections, such as staph, if you don't keep things clean. Be reasonable/professional and it's alright.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

My family only processes our own very well kept animals though. I can't speak for a general slaughterhouse.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's pretty common for butchers to rub salt on their cuts immediately after because it helps kill lots of bacteria and germs. It does hurt!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Q Fever is a risk, most abattoir workers are vaccinated for it though.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

If you are cutting your hands then you are breaking OSHA laws. Eye wear and knife-proof gloves are required. (worked at Cargill)

11 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 2

Chef for 15 years, cooked a lot of your meat..

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was thinking if youre cutting your hands someone needs to train you on proper knife usage instead of saying "go cut that" but sure, gloves

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Chef for 15 years, cooked a lot of your meat..

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yeah but no one ever follows all those rules to the T unless an inspector is around.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

And that is why accidents happen.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They make cool chainmail mesh gloves that make trying to cut your hand super fun! Why wouldn't you want to use them?

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Now you can do a legit comparison between anything you eat and say "this tastes like shit." "yeah, so bad." "no, like actual shit."

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

*unpopular opinion puffin* I'm not sure you can say you like animals if you do this job :/

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

I found the vegan!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nooooo. *runs*

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I was thinking!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I agree. "I love something, let's kill it".

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

:)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I love animals, I still slaughter four cows every Christmas. Granddad would used to call them by name to the slaughter house

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Makes sense when people do it for survival but I just can't eat meat anymore, convincing someone to change their whole diet though is hard

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Totally agree, what's the difference between the cows and dogs or cats? None at all.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

One has steak

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They both have steak... I just think neither deserves to die because of it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Exactly! Holy smokes I thought I'd get death threats, not cool replies :D

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Don't hold yer breath on the nasty comments, but yes thankfully there's way more nonspeciecist, animal friendly people here than I expected

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The more the merrier

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Toothpaste for your hands. I used this trick when I worked at the hog farm, for the same reasons, the smell permeates the skin.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hand scrub I make for my vet clinic: sugar and oil(any type) with about 10 drops of essential oil/ounce. Tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

seeds, basil, baby tears and human blood. Mix together and drink when the moon is full. If your hands glow red and repel dirt you did it. 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

and orange tend to be good at getting the nasty smells off. Scrub with that shit a few times a day.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

what skyrim mod is that?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i suppose that could work too...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I uh, I'm glad I don't eat meat after reading the tapeworm and intestine story.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I agree. It sounds more and more like a good idea that people don't eat meaat.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Thanks to all these posts, I've been able to add so many things to my list of jobs I could never do.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's easy to become desensitized to dead animals. My cats are my babies but I still dissect cats weekly for anatomy lab.

11 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 17

I read that as "my cats ate my baby". I promptly started at the beginning of the sentence again.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ya, its such a weird concept. I TA-ed for anatomy & had to slice up 1 that looked just like my baby Jack. I still dunno how I feel about it

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Back in my veterinary days I went through so many euthanasias it became second nature to me.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My first week as a 16 year old vet assistant, I had to help put down a dog I'd accidentally bonded with. After that I was just disconnected.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Is there any reason you spelt it "hydes" instead of "hides"?

11 years ago | Likes 180 Dislikes 8

Happens when you type with a tapeworm coiled around your arm.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Because OP is actually talking about salting the earth in Hyde Park in London.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you know you can't dig under hyde park for tube tunnels because of the density all of the plague corpses?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*leans in* "hail hydes"

11 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 1

Dr. Jekyll

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cause Hyde is Eric's only good friend.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Although secretive, he hides from no one.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP is a big fan of That 70s Show.

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Crossed my mind too. I thought that might be an American thing, like "honor" instead of "honour", and so on...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just incorrect spelling, many words are incorrect throughout the entire post.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That was my first thought, but I gave the benefit of the doubt.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Beef Jerkyl and Hyde

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't beef jerkyl made in a dehyderator?

Hahahahaa excellent

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like to pretend he's talking about Mr Hyde.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Aren't you supposed to wear protecting gloves to avoid cuts?

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Ya we have chainmail gloves, but it's very difficult to use a knife effectively while wearing them.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Have you considered buying enhanced Kevlar slash gloves. Much more flexible that chainmail but still will stop unintentional cuts

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pregnant women I worked with had to wear chain mail aprons.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's difficult to use a knife with no fingers too.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Have you tried wearing it on the hand that isn't using the knife?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep, but I need to swap hands regularly to gain access to different parts of the animal and swapping the glove gets pretty annoying.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is there a reason that you can wear rubber gloves or something similar while rubbing the salt in?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

re: #3 Well, maybe you should WEAR SOME FUCKING GLOVES.

11 years ago | Likes 181 Dislikes 16

Use a gauntlet when you do abbatoir work man, and why salt? use preservative diluted with water.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Why? Probably because money. As for why they're not using gauntlets yet; also money.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work in a large scale industrial slaughterhouse and there is never any hand contact with the salt/hide/brine without gloves.

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I've experience in a small abattoir and they didn't use gloves either when it came to rubbing salt on hides. Different places I guess.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea we use a salt brine, so the hides are travelling through a concentrated solution instead. But even the raw salt is handled with gloves

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Due to the amount of bullshit that OP is in contact with, I do not think gloves will be required.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Tried it, we use very coarse salt and it wrecks plastic gloves, and the salt dissolves and even soaks through good quality gloves :/

11 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 6

I think he could have means gloves so you dont cut yourself to fuckl

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe they were referring to cutting gloves, ya know? So the knives don't cut your hands.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cut-resistant gloves while using knives, bro.

11 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

I work with knives all day and we have to use a metal glove.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This might be a long shot but... leather gloves..?

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So you're saying I need to invent slaughterhouse gloves.

11 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 0

Haha yes, that would be great!

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Do you need a tactile glove or is it more that it needs to seal out dissolving salts while not being shredded?

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

All of the above really. Something tightly fitting with good grip thats durable and waterproof, I don't cut myself too often anymore though

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

if it ruins gloves doesn't it affect your skin as well?

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Actually the skin on my hands is pretty good, the salt kinda scrubs all the dead skin off I guess!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

good to hear that. good luck in finding a solution to your salt problem

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Both my parents worked in a slaughter house when I was growing up and chain gloves were always around. They work wonders.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hope OSHA doesn't check around because that stuff will get the location shut down so fast it ain't funny.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Health and safety inspector comes around once a month and all the standards have always been met.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I applied for that job. I ended up in dairy instead haha.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then use the sort of gloves that fishermen use to slaughter fish with.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thank you for doing such a hard job and I am sorry you feel like you have to hide it. I work in animal medical research and feel your pain.

11 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 18

Same. I've had people straight up tell me I'm poisoning the population with chemicals and hormones in milk. -_-

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Please do one of these posts.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

No. But if you have any questions or concerns please let me know and I would be happy to try and answer. :-)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I can't really think of any, Cracked did a article a while ago and interviewed people who did it. It was a "necessary evil" IIRC.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So do I. I've wanted to post one of these, but I don't want to deal with everyone hating me. :(

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yes, I won't do one either. I will just answer any questions people might have. I jump on a few posts about animal rights activism.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Eh. Anyone who doesn't like animal cruelty will be downvoted to oblivion anyway, you won't even have to see those comments.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too. I'm always understanding and eager to answer questions, but I'm not willing to be jumped by PETA.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I hear ya. I am just thankful that I am in the US. Europe has it even worse. :-(

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But I feel like it's my responsibility as someone who empathizes with animals, to be the one to take care of them. Especially in research.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Even in the US, people still don't agree with it. They'll take the safe medical treatments, but accuse me of cruelty for contributing.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Please please please.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You help save lives. Its easy to scream in horror, but how many of these people will need the treatments your research has made possible?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

You said it was ok to ask questions. I was just wondering if you ever feel guilty? Is it as bad as ARA make out it is? Is it necessary? TY!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No. I never feel guilty. I work mostly w/ mice & sometimes I do feel bad for them. We have a threshold for each animal that we will 1/?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

determined that the animals welfare took precedence over the scientific data that could be collected.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think everyone should have to slaughter an animal in order to earn their carnivore's licence.

11 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 29

I had to kill a rabbit and then gut and clean it before cooking it on the campfire. Couldn't eat it because of the smell

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Agreed, you should understand and respect where your food comes from.

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Intestines really did smell horrible. But wash them and you can make awesome sausages

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Technically, I'm an omnivore.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because as we all know, back when people regularly slaughtered their own stock, they were often deterred from eating it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a vegan, you know I'm gonna agree. +1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Does branding cattle count?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I watched videos of cattlebranding... those screams... it was just awful. D:

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, the screams were painful to listen to. I'm just happy that I didn't do the actual branding. I just locked them in place of the cage.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have no idea how many times I tried laying off meat now. I hate it but I seem to not be able to let it go. (I dare you to sing it >:0)

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

God dammit

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why should I have to earn anything to eat food?

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 11

You shouldn't. There's plenty of fruit and veg... ;)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

People like you are going to destroy the earth.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

I asked a question and was met with accusations. I eat meat, I've dressed animals. Why do I need a license? Why would anyone need a license?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You're being judged but the meat industry is seriously fucking the earth up. People are so selfish.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

If animals have to die for your greed, you should at least pay some attention to what is going on.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I hit a squirrel with my car once, does that count? It was awful. :( I cried.

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

I once hit a skunk. Thing's skull wrecked my tire.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hit a rat that fell off an ice cream truck once. Sad day.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Decapitated a deer with my car. Hit a baby bunny the week before.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But what if I want to get an Omnivore's license?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Really teaches you to respect the work/animal. I haven't done large animals, but a chicken + lamb were within my abilities.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I do four Beef ever Christmas. Meat for my extended family for a year

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember the first time i cut a deer down the middle, you can't prepare for that and there is no way to describe it to someone. Respect.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Done it. Also collected a pig carcass straight from slaughter my first morning of classes in college.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would become a vegetarian. It's probably wrong, but thinking of meat as dead animals really puts me off it, so I avoid thinking it

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 10

Before i stopped eating meat I always had this picture in my mind of cutting a slice of my leg and grilling it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife eats meat far less now. I didn't ask her to, but she said being around me made her realize she was eating "crispy flesh".

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

DO! Seriously it's so good, I even put on some weight trying all the new yummies. No guilt and you help stop pollution and cruelty :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's as good a reason to go veg as any. Don't live a lie.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As does everyone who eats the dead flesh of other animals. It helps that we call it by different names and dress it up in batter & sauce too

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly! There is a psychologist that calls the mentality "carnism" Check out Melanie Joy on youtube she makes a lot of sense.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Join us. The worst part isn't the food - it's the sweaty non-leather shoes

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

The tapeworm. Omg vomit.

11 years ago | Likes 2273 Dislikes 7

Oh god. I'm gaging and vomiting. I'm... gavomitting

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Indeed

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what made me almost NOPE my computer desk through the nearest wall. No fucking thank you.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds horrifying

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That may have put me off meat.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@commandereviano did you keep the tapeworm as a pet?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They are the perfect pet. It goes where you go. Eats what you eat.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I thin it actually eats where you go. o_O

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*shivers*

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or a diet plan.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Came here to say this. That big, you take the eggs and start selectively breeding for external feeding.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Two years later: "Meet my pet, Slimy" "screeech" and a lick from a dog-sized tapeworm

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought it was gonna be a normal my day at work post, but when I got to that I was like nope nope nope *chills down spine

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

tapeworms are fucking gross

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I almost threw up

Do you happen to be a huge manly Russian man?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I chew tobacco. Generally, I spit it. But this is why, every now and then I swallow a decent amount. Chew spit will kill parasites.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd probably go around the facility showing all my coworkers whilst swinging it around over my head.

My butthole puckered so bad...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As 1111, I'm going to make a wish that all tapeworms die off in their sleep tonight.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the only thing in there that bothered me, but I think I'm going to have nightmares from it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do you think they still use those intestines? probably...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why would you waste it? It's not like it actually infected the tissue

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i dont know, people are funny about things like that

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had to stop reading at tapeworm.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I'm imagining the snake/alien scene from Prometheus

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

If there was anything to push me from experimenting with vegetarianism to full on vegan, this is it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just watched that today. Exactly what I thought of. Crying.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I like that movie, it's got flaws but it's nice to see Ridley Scott do scifi again

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I always wanted to try vegan diet, might as well start from today since I won't be touching meat for while anyway

11 years ago | Likes 183 Dislikes 4

Don't worry. I hear if you cook the meat thoroughly enough, the tapeworm dies anyway.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah.. my business teacher in highschool showed and told us MUCH worse about the meat industry. It was actually pretty enlightening. :)

You get tapeworms from plants (actually invertebrates on them), how do you think animals get it in the first place? :) Wash your veggies! :)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There is a tapeworm you can get just by handling pet rodents and not washing your hands!

dream of having a pet: gone. dream of wearing full body armour all the time: aqcuired.

Serious question: if ab animal has tapeworms, is it considered tainted?

11 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

If it has mixtape worms, it's considered off the chain.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well done

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

naw, thats why it's important to cook meat fully though...

11 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Does that mean I might be eating cooked tapeworms?

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Probably

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're eating remnants of many things you'd otherwise not eat. Parasites are certainly among them.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not just tapeworms, example, you know those black lines in cod meat? Parasitic worms.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Who knows...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IIRC in middleschool science class the teacher said the long part of a tapeworm is actually egg satchels so it shouldn't have muscle

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? Not the part where stuff goes in his mouth??

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Shit in his mouth my ass. The tapeworm thing almost made me drop the phone and scream. I have phobia of worms under my skin. hate maggots

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If it helps at all, maggots only eat dead flesh as far as I know."

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
