So while I agree this is murder, going frame by frame auditing a .2 second clip of time and expecting any human brain to be able to make decision in it is kind of silly. The fact is the car wasn't coming at him, he had time to draw his gun, which means he had time to simply step out of the way (because he did). Minnesota is not a stand your ground state, and you have a duty to retreat. Self defense is an affirmative offense. Dude should be charged with murder, and let him make his case in court.

Honestly, just sketched it up myself. I wanted to see if it was even possible to take that shot from in front of the vehicle so I got a Honda pilot interior cutaway and drew a line from the headrest through roughly where the bullet hole seemed to be. Not exactly precision forensic science, but even just this seems pretty cut-n-dried.

As much as I hate what ICE has been doing, I will honesty say there is a debate and we should be prepared to hear it. The officer didn't have the benefit of our camera view to see which way the wheels were turned. From his perspective it may well have appeared that the car was lurching forward -- at him. Plenty of discussion to be had about why he shot instead of stepping aside, why he placed himself in front of a moving vehicle, etc. Unfortunately ICE is being used to provoke this shit.

The more I see this the more I'm convinced he intentionally stepped out in front of the car hoping he could use a bad move by the driver as justification to shoot in "self defense." You will never be able to make me believe that someone not planning on shooting someone was so quick to assess a situation, come to the conclusion there was a threat of grave danger to yourself, move to unholster your weapon, take aim and fire THREE rounds. There was only one bullet hole in the windshield, and it was in the very bottom right corner. That means only the first shot came in through the windshield and it was on the side. The next two shots went through the open driver’s side window. It is clear, none of the three shots were fired from the front of the vehicle.

I've had a car stop with it's tire on my foot. (It was at a messy intersection and I was on my bicycle, ultimately kind of my fault). I felt pressure, but no pain and I was fine. And I was wearing sneakers, not boots. He's got no excuse, any threat to him was gone by the time he drew from his holster.

I've been hit by a car. Thrown 10 ft by it. I got up, yelled at the driver for not paying attention, caught my breath, got dude's information, then finished walking two more miles to get back to my in-laws' house with a 40 lb rucksack on my back. Granted, at the time this happened, I was 15 years younger than this dude, but I can't see any way that this guy was in anywhere near the level of danger they're acting like he was.
