We had to put my Bobbi down.

We had to put my Bobbi cat down a few nights ago. It's been two days and the house feels empty.

I noticed she wasn't breathing properly. She had an unknown tumor burst in her chest releasing a bloody fluid that put severe pressure on her heart and lungs. This xray should show her heart and lungs, but the fluid blocks them. The vet performed a thorocentesis to drain her chest to ease her breathing at my request.

The vet recommended I euthanize her immediately but I wanted to take her home to give her one last good night, but upon further testing we discovered she had Feline Leukemia. This virus is highly communicable and suppresses the immune system making it nearly impossible for kitties to heal. The doctor told me she was unlikely to survive any surgeries due to her size and the FL. The vet was surprised she lived as long as she did. We put her down that night so as not to further expose our other kitties to the possibility of contraction. We tested them the next day and they are negative. She was so tiny and good and I miss her so much. Please get your cats their shots and keep them up to date. I didn't even think to test her when I found her.
