Kinda but they don't do it for the sound. When firing very fast, the muzzle brake helps keep the gun from going up after after each shot

Honestly I had one but took it off because they only really help with full auto guns

Malarkey they don't. A muzzle brake literally converts felt recoil into noise. The more effective the brake the louder it is!

All I'm saying is that I couldn't notice a difference in my 223. Just made it louder and windier. 223 doesn't have much kick anyway
