Unsplash has quite a wide variety of stock photos. They add 10 photos every 10 days, and you can opt to have them delivered to your email. Most of them can be used as cool website backgrounds or cool wallpapers. Either way, they're free

Another good website with plenty of stock photos is http://www.allthefreestock.com/
Project Euler
Project Euler is one for all the programmers out there - beginners or advanced. Project Euler present you with a problem and you have to give a solution. SImples. Well, kinda. All of the problems require a lot of thought and you will need to do some research to produce an efficient solution to many of the more difficult problems. Either way, they're interesting problems. You can sign up as well to keep track of your progress, which is neat.

Codecademy
I've included this because, whilst it is very popular, it is still very useful especially if you want to start learning a new language. It offers free coding classes in 8 different programming languages including Python, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, AngularJS, and Ruby, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS

Forekast
In a nutshell, It's a list of notable upcoming events posted by users. I like it.

Google Fonts
Posted because it's really very useful. You can download fonts to use locally or you can utilize the font database and link fonts to your webpages for use online using @font-face. Quite a few of the fonts on here are pretty shit, so there's a cool list that gives the top 20 - http://www.awwwards.com/20-best-web-fonts-from-google-web-fonts-and-font-face.html

Khan Academy
Sort of a cross between Udemy and Codecademy, Khan Academy feaures micro-tutorials posted as YouTube videos on a broad range of subject such as math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry and history
https://www.khanacademy.org/
Material Palette
Really useful for web designers is Material Palette. You choose any two colours that you want and it generates a palette for you to use. If you like your selection, MaterialPallete tool allows you to download it and implement into your own material design

Project Gutenburg
A resource which more people need to make use of. It's a digital library of free ebooks all in 3 formats - HTML, epub and mobi. If you have an ebook, you can drag and drop files across. Pretty much all the books it features are old, which is why they're all free. If you want to torrent books which aren't here, you can do that
https://www.gutenberg.org/
http://en.bookfi.org/ - A really useful site with fucking tonnes of ebooks. If you want/need it, it's probably here. Not just textbooks either.
Typeform
It's a neat site where you can make nice looking surveys and online forms really easily and really quickly
http://www.typeform.com
ZenPen
Type loads of stuff in your browser. Also if you close it down accidentally, you can open it back up and everything you wrote will still be there

Khan Academy is honestly amazing and I encourage everyone to use it more
goodgeye
I think www.booksshouldbefree.com might be a good addition to this list. You can download audio books. Lots of great listens
TrapsAreIllegal
I did a lot of Project Euler in Haskell. I think Is topped after the first 100 or so problems. By then I understood Haskell enough to pass.
BoardmanOfCanada
I've actually been doing a few of these recently since I started learning Haskell. I cannot get an efficient solution for 3 though :(
TrapsAreIllegal
The Haskell Wiki has solutions. To be fair, you need to be pretty decent at Maths to figure these out.

I have an idea for a website. People create accounts, and create boards based around an issue they want changed. Other people can then 1/2

As a designer, how did I not already know about some of these..

If one more person suggests code Academy.... We get it. It's good. It's well known at this point..

Except for Codecademy.

I have several terabytes of stock materials on this computer. We only ever replace one vice with another, us hoomans.
CorrectorOfSlightlyOffQuotes
Become either a programmer or a writer. You'll become somewhat productive.
Ozymander
Nah, Codecademy is actually quite helpful for programming.

khan academy saved my ass in calc class.

At least someone is attempting to make me a better, smarter person. It's not going to work, but at least you tried.
ProneHub
The only one I recognize from the past is Khan Academy.

To be honest, I didn't get even halfway through the projects before quitting and saying ' I'll just go back to gaming.'

As a mathematician, I also endorse Project Euler. It will seriously help with your mathematical thinking and intuition.

Project Euler FTW
Zechie
I should give that a try, it sounds very cool.

I solved my 22nd program yesterday! As a beginning programmer, this has been a blast for me

What about Duolingo? Nobody knows about Duolingo!!
MazMaz
We need more language-learning love! Duolingo gets mentioned very often though, so +1 anyway

I have it on my phone so I can not learn several languages at once. It's awesome.

Thank you, you're nice! I was making fun of the post though, I know duolingo :D
CaptSlowShow
I'm using it to learn Dutch! It taught me "Ik ben groot" the other day and I giggled for many.
MazMaz
I moved to Belgium this year, and the only Dutch I know is te koop/te huur because I was looking for apartments. You're doing a great job ;D
arealapple
My dad thinks it's useless, but Dutch is a super fun language to learn.
CaptSlowShow
Plus learning languages is so much fun! I rarely trust my skills to carry on a conversation but understanding something foreign is so cool.

If you can speak English you can probably live independently in the Netherlands but it is nice/fun to learn the language anyways.
CaptSlowShow
That's what I've heard but I'd rather not go in with some "English master race" mentality.
