This is one of the only movies I’ve bought in every format I’ve owned. VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and now digital.

I require my fencing team to watch this movie. The other movie we watch is By the Sword. It's terrible and we love it.

In a DnD campaign we confronted the guy that killed my characters parents. Take a wild guess as to what I shouted at him.

"Yes, yes, I killed your father. What is it with you women, anyway? I killed my father, too, and you don't hear ME whining about it!"

For people who'ld love more TPB BTS facts, Elwes wrote a book called "As you wish: Inconceivable Tales From The Set Of The Princess Bride"

In the middle of reading it :) Best story so far is how Andre had back pain, so he drank a lot. A LOT. LIters of booze. He got drunk...
..and passed out in the hotel lobby, and not even 3 guys could move him. So they put up one of those red velvet ropes around him until..
...he just woke up in the morning and went up to his room. Everyone had to walk around the giant snoozing in the lobby.

Only Columbo could have been the Grandfather.

Another fact: The man playing Wesley injured his foot and can be seen limping in some scenes.
Imagine Goldman running around screaming about fire and the director being, "For the last time, Will, you fucking wrote this scene!"
scoobydoobydo
I hope that one's true.

The behind the scenes stuff with Andre still makes me cry. Its so sad....

"you killed me father"...?

Carry wrote a book about making the movie. It is amazing. Especially in audio book. Go listen to it.

During shooting, André passed out in a hotel lobby. The staff couldn’t move him, so they had a literal sleeping giant for one night.

Also, he said to Mandy Patinkin that he felt so normal on the set; no one stared or gawked at him for his size. The man was a sweetheart.

I wonder if he is using the same wind we are using...

I remember Rob Reiner telling of having dinner at a nice Italian restaurant, & mob kingpin John Gotti was also there with his bodyguards. >>
After the meal he's outside waiting on his car & one of Gotti's bodyguards comes up to him & says, "You killed my father, prepare to die.">>
In the moment he was so scared that he didn't even make the film connection & almost pissed himself before the guy started laughing.

I've recently met several people in their thirties that had not seen this movie or even had any idea what it was about. Wtf

My Sister loves this movie and introduced it to me when I was probably 7 or 8, 23years ago now. Seen it many times since then.

Fun fact: Goldman did not write the book. He abridged Morgenstern's book.
Aren't you precious
RadiDaddy
Morgenstern was a pen name Goldman used.
Well I feel cheated.
LiftBig2GetBig
I thought you were joking with your initial comment haha. He tricked you good :)
SlyMrFox
The entire thing is a cheat, the book says Goldman has a son, when in fact he has two daughters.
It changes my perspective on the book. Especially the shit ending.
