PROTANOPIA (RED-BLIND)
#3 (green weak) got corrupted in upload, fixed version : https://i.imgur.com/g9mnAmv.mp4
NerdN1
Just because this came as a revelation to some color blind people before: Peanut butter is NOT green. It is brown, which is different.
MADchemEE
Neat and all, but it might be more effective if there were more blue/violet in the blue effected ones.
wantednokes
And there's Gifiness, where you can only see 256 colours.
bitticlan
I know I'm colorblind but I never knew how. Couldn't see green weak, corrupted file, got my hopes up, still can't see fixed one. Knowledge!
MotionOfTheOcean
It is most common and mildest form of color-blindness in men, btw. Often goes pretty unnoticed.
Trakeik
Are you trying to say color blind people make terrible gardeners?
felquist
Wait, some people actually see everything in black and white?
kaiserkevin
Couldn't tell the difference between 2 for green-weak, then i remembered thats my colorblindness
KingFrederickIV
One of those must be broken. The color isn’t changing...
NoForethought
Got bad news for you :\
KingFrederickIV
What’s the bad news?? Is my phone messed up? I just updated the iOS software...
NoForethought
Na, your eyes got the gimpy colour disorder sorry :\
KyrosXIII
blue cone monochromacy looks like I'm living in England with the constant drizzled and depressing atmosphere
ThatOneGalFromThatOnePlaceThatYouTotallyKnow
Neat.
CajunRaccoon
ErinInStereo
So blue blind means everything looks like Sin City?
Twinklepot
That was very interesting. Thank you!
ResearchByJoe
Every film is an art film to people with monochromacy
Crogicun
I always knew i was colorblind, now i know which one i am _-_
txmount
See, I actually AM deuteranopic, and I literally can't tell any difference between the two gifs in that one.
Cere4l
slightly ironic, the pictures dont load for me, so all i see is 6 black rectangles =p
LSebastian
I don't know, Ryan. Why is the sky grey? Why is the grass grey? Why is a rainbow grey, grey, grey, grey, grey and infra-grey?
DaniaAudax
Got my dad the color blind pal app. He was so impressed.
DaniaAudax
It's free, I just put it on his phone
ashmenon
A few of my illustration lecturers were colorblind. One had the most fantastic color palette when doing acrylics and oils as a result.
LocustStar
Ooh, can you do a reverse one with the colours enhanced so those of us with colour bindness can see like normal people?
ITalkAboutGoats
*eye roll*
BellerophonM
Deuteranomaly is the most common of these, accounting for well over half of colour blindness.
KillerTofu615
Father in law has tritanopia and I fall into Protanopia but am also green weak.
exitparadise
Is the Deuteranomaly one actually the same throughout or is this some elaborate joke?
MotionOfTheOcean
It does change... Perhaps consult opthalmologist or eye doc? Judging by gif, effect is subtler though, so perhaps it was missed as a kid?
jalapenobagels
Definitely changes
TheHappyCanadian
I had to show my wife, she said the faces of the people turned green... welp I guess I'm colour blind
IsthisthekrustykrabNOTHISISPATRICKWELLSHITIDIDENTKNOWTHAT
FUCK THE SECOND DOES NOT CHANGE FOR ME I THINK IM COLOR BLIND
Hobo42
Take more legit tests. There's one that involves rearranging colors which seems to give the most detailed results. Monitors vary results too
thegraphiteknight
Helluva way to find out.
IsthisthekrustykrabNOTHISISPATRICKWELLSHITIDIDENTKNOWTHAT
IM STILL FUCKING FREAKING OUT
NoForethought
To those wondering, yes, I'm fucking sorry.
IsthisthekrustykrabNOTHISISPATRICKWELLSHITIDIDENTKNOWTHAT
YOU DID THIS TOO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
NerdN1
The images are definitely different. Unless your monitor is seriously fucked, you're probably color-blind. Might need further research.
IsthisthekrustykrabNOTHISISPATRICKWELLSHITIDIDENTKNOWTHAT
IM USING MY PHONE AND I CLEANED IT TWICE!
NerdN1
Calm down. If you only noticed this now, I'm thinking that you can live with it. Still, might want to talk to an optometrist.
IsthisthekrustykrabNOTHISISPATRICKWELLSHITIDIDENTKNOWTHAT
Ok Thank you I'll be going right now
NerdN1
Okay. Like I said, you've lived with this for, presumably, a decade or two at least, so it isn't an emergency.
BeeDragon
Why does red weak take away the reds but green weak just makes the people look green and the leaves look normal?
MotionOfTheOcean
Because it refers to the types of cones in the eye that are affected in that type of color blindness. It does not mean you see green weak1/2
MotionOfTheOcean
it means your green sensitive cones have malfunction. Since color is then interpreted in brain, it can just result in interpreting face 2/3
MotionOfTheOcean
to have same hue (green) as the leaves. No one knows for sure though, if they see it as green, the image just is tested and produced so 3/4
MotionOfTheOcean
that the color blind people see it as normal. So how close it is the world as they see it? Not necessarily close. It is likelier that it 4/5
MotionOfTheOcean
just uses green in different places as they see same hue there. Who knows what hue that is in reality. 5/5
FloppyFingers
can you be racist if you are also color blind?
TheVoicesSay
Damn..... That's some deep shit.
Kiore
Yup, there's studies that show people demonstrate racial bias over the phone.
NerdN1
Of course. Skin color isn't the only way to discern race and "color blind" people tend to at least be able to see darker vs lighter color.
charkleman
Yes. Where's my prize.
TGWeaver
Absolutely. That's also not a philosophical question.
Ulthirm
Weird so what do you guys call the colors fade in and out? Specifically red green.
MotionOfTheOcean
What do you mean with that? I'm curious just for curiosity, since color-blindess is fascinating.
ITalkAboutGoats
Sounds like Optic Neuritis. Do you have an autoimmune disease?
Ulthirm
Its highly likely i have HIV (family history) and a disease that effects my eyes (another family history)
Ulthirm
keratoconus is the eye name.
ITalkAboutGoats
Why haven't you been tested for HIV? You need to be on drugs...
Ulthirm
Money Money Money. thats why.
iReportStuffYouJackOffTo
is your red the same as my red?
SpinningTowardsFreedom
No. Even without colour blindness, we all see roughly the same colours but with some differences.
icookfoodandfightfire
He's asking if the way we perceive colors are the same. Maybe the way you perceive red is different than what I do. Maybe my red >
icookfoodandfightfire
Is your green. We would never know because our perceptions of color can't really be described in a way for another to understand
vdangit
Because of colors mixing, I think it would have to be our red/yellow/blue that could maybe be interchanged
iReportStuffYouJackOffTo
what if we all have the SAME favorite colour.. but we each call it differently?
cuddlesaur
I think about this a lot
FloppyFingers
I like your red better actually
Cere4l
No, i only see the best colours
SweenDog
I've tried to explain this hypothesis of seeing different colors but learning them as one, to other people. So far over their heads.
ShamnusMcfee
It's easier when you graduate middle school
Poiszyn
I've tried to explain this to several people numerous times and no one understands a lick of it
Yomommasass
To other 12 year olds? Who couldnt pick that up
SweenDog
Lol. Outside the box thinking isn't that common, I'm afraid.
mlogan
I've often wondered this.
testsubject29
same, go on utube someone by the name of vsauce explains it well, called is your red the same as my red I think
wrecklesstimes
Dot
areallusernamestaken
I believe John locke asked that question a while ago, it's a philosophizer thing
WooWooWooYouKnowIt
It's a question everyone comes up with around their early teens.
JugglerNuts
If they arent.... does that make it a.... pigment of our imagininations
JugglerNuts
Im not a dad, but im bettin at least 3 of yall just called me a motherfucker

As someone with colour blindness does this mean I'm seeing normal!?
bigblindguy
I'm like the dogs, I can see vaguely what colour stuff is supposed to be, if I have something very different to compare to
thefrayedendsofsanity
The green-weak to me looks the same both ways. I am red green colorblind.
CharismaNoNukes
As a color-blind person, there was one gif that was really confusing for me. All the others were obvious. Guess I'm green-weak.
selfmadecurve
I'm also deuter, join the club!
SmokeWeasel
You haven't realized that people have fucking green skin and not the color everyone else sees since this post
KimberlynDaysSexyManSecretary
I am deuter as well. Will the color glasses help us too? My wife wants to get me a pair.
EverythingISeeIsAJojosReference
My right eye is like #2. I mean I see fine out of both but when I close my left eye that gif seems accurate.
ITalkAboutGoats
I wonder if you're a chimera, or if you just have partially expressed genes.
EverythingISeeIsAJojosReference
I wouldn't know if it's genetic if it was my father side. *sobs*
ITalkAboutGoats
Those things aren't genetic, it's errors in the womb! Basically the first one you absorbed your twin before they actually developed.
twohlix
WELCOME FELLOW DEUTERANOMALOUS MAN. I'm betting you're male, cause this disorder we share affects men:women 16:1 or more.
CharismaNoNukes
Ooooh! Guess what! I'm a woman! Super-duper rare! I'm special! (actually, my dad's colorblind and so was my maternal grandfather).
twohlix
Snap. I took the safe bet and ended up wrong. womp womppp
hoffestyler
As another deuteranomalous man I can confirm this. My grandpa had it, my brother has it, I have it, but no woman in my family has it.
thorkild91
It must be your mothers father right?
stagmrs
Not all together sure
stagmrs
I have it and i am a lady! :D
invar
Then all your male offspring should have it and all your female will be carriers, yayyy!
bitticlan
Does being a twin have anything to do with this one? Me and my twin both have the green-weak apparently!
MotionOfTheOcean
It is inherited in X-chromosome, that is the reason males are more prone to it. Females have two copies that can compensate or even add 1/2
MotionOfTheOcean
up to almost super color vision. Males have only one and even slightest mistakes in color vision affecting genes cause some level of 2/3
NoForethought
The gif got corrupted in upload, here's the proper one
kraeftig
Man the difference on this one's pretty subtle.
NoForethought
if you don't see a guy with a green face for a solid second+ then the issue isn't with the gif :(
TragicTurtle
i see his face get somewhat pale. but not green... hmm
enneque
Ya it's just the face though.
bauminator
There is no difference
