Mine, too, is 1920x1080, and some of them DO fit, if you just press "view in full resolution. :)

When you search something on Google Images, you can set the wanted resolution via the options. For your screen I recommend 2MP or more :)

There's a program called IrfanView that has a Resize/Resample option in one of its menus. You can resize it to your desktop that way.
