I posted yesterday about a young girl named Penelope, AKA "Super Penelope"
It was met well, but it bothered me that people accused me of doing this for "point whoring." So, I created a throw-away account. I ain't doing this for points. Either way, I'm going to be a shameless whore asking for your attention in this post.
You see the above? No child should have their earliest recollections and memories be of tubes in and out of their body with machines and heart monitors. Penelope has Diamond Blackfan Anemia, which is a rare blood and bone marrow disease which can cause "a variety of congenital abnormalities, including craniofacial malformations, thumb or upper limb abnormalities, cardiac defects, urogenital malformations, and cleft palate."
She's in treatment right now, but due to our wonderful American medical system, this child's life is not free.
So, here's the part where I pump you for donations...
Like I said, I'm going to be fucking shameless. Nowhere is my name attached to this account, I'm not pocketing the money, I will answer any questions that have been PM'd to me, and I'll try to respond to all comments.
Now, donations come in a lot of forms. I know that the "arm-chair activist" has been scrutinized and put down, but believe it or not, liking and sharing CAN help. If you're like me and can't contribute anything financial, then like this so it gets to the front page. Maybe some wealthy millionaire is sitting there who can give $1000. Or maybe we'll reach a thousand people who can only give a dollar. Either way, the end result is the same; we give a little girl her life back.
