Actually water is very good at absorbing radiation, every 7 Cm the radiation is cut in half, so you would be fine to swim in it.

That isn't how spent nuclear fuel pools work at all, dude. I suggest googling neutron moderation in water for more info.

The containers for the fuel are sealed. The only thing leaking out is radiation which the water absorbs.
