One tip. The scoring you see on top of loaves isn't just for decoration. It can also help the rise when baking, giving you a better crumb.

Great tip. I ordered a lame to help score. I'm also thinking of trying a slow rise no knead recipe next time. Love the feedback though and thanks for your comment!!

You've already ordered it, so whatever, but I've never felt the need to get a lame. A regular pairing knife does the job just fine for me. I've also never used a proofing basket, I just let it do it's final proofing on a cutting board with with a dishcloth on top of it. Works a charm.

Yeah I get that. My knives need updating so I got the lame. I keep my house cold so I just proofed in a mixing bowl covered with a dish towel in the laundry room (warmest room).
