Tona had a bath, good girl Tona

Aug 8, 2017 12:15 PM

Tona sits like a lady of refined poise. She's a half-blind rescue dog who had total sensory deprivation and neglect for at least 18 months. She doesn't know how to dog yet.
I had to leave her with two trusted friends for a few days this week, so she needed a bath.

Noodle legs! They're so thin and lacking muscle, even after three months of food and walks.

Tona small.

Good girl. I didn't bath her head. I had to do everything by hand with a cup because my shower is very noisy.

Well this is fine.

The stare of the unimpressed. My fire is a light up picture of a fire. I'm not classy. Sorry Tona.

This is a major first, she came and lay with me on the floor after. I got snuffled all over.

So happy to see Tona warm and content!

Curiosity, have you tried getting her head wet at all? Petting her head with a wet hand, putting a drop on her, anything?

Collies have skinny legs. My Sheltie has legs that feel like sticks, but she's perfectly sound. The muscles are in the shoulder and thigh.

Tona is a beauty! Such grace and mystique. You're an amazing person for taking her in. So many pups get turned away because of their past.

She's a border collie, so a lot of people want a sporty dog they can do stuff with. I really dunno how many would want such a shy one.

Someone described her as "Buying a Ferrari with the handbrake welded up."

Our greyhound mix was terribly skittish when we first got her. She didn't pull her tail out from between her legs to the point that her 1/2

previous owners thought she had a permanent muscle contracture. She's been with us 3 years though and she's turned out to be a goofball. 2/2

That's very similar (tail). Tona is also very weak physically, her front limbs are emaciated and wobbly. I dunno if she's fit to be spayed.

Any chance you can find a veterinary rehab that would be willing to donate some services? She would do well with water treadmill.
