I am thinking it has to be british. The P-40 runs on a 3 blade engine while most of the british fighters at that time had 4 blade 1/2

Engines. I am not sure, but I think it is a rolls-royce merlin engine. Not an expert by any means, mind you. 2/2

It's a P-51D or P-51K Mustang. And you're right - it does have a Merlin, but a larger one made by Packard. 4-bladed prop is American though.

It's a P-51, not a P-40. 4-bladed prop, bubble canopy, no large frontal radiator, squarer tail, and gear opens outward.

When stowed, P51 wheels are near the fuselage. That inward piece you see is the inner door. The leg and hinge are on the right (outboard).
