Rainbow croissants!

Hotel Café Royal in London has started selling rainbow croissants filled with amarena cherry jam.

They are made by executive pastry chef Sarah Barber and head baker Romain Tessier. It took about 8 weeks to create the perfect coloured rainbow croissant!

The five-star hotel located in Piccadilly Circus mixes colourful batches of dough together. They also make mango, passion fruit, raspberry, and pistachio flavoured croissants.

They are making up to 80 croissants a day and they are sold for £3.50 each.

Some contact Skittles and the leprechauns, they're stealing the rainbow.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Horrible and way to expensive. This is an insult to real croissants!

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 8

The trashy yet food loving queer in me screams: I NEED TO EAT THIS.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That particular shade of color scheme is just too dark. They should have gone with pastel colors since the baking process darkens the dough.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where do we find these treats of goodness?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Solid way to fuck with the French. Here's your national pastry dressed like a crack whore.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 6

As a semi french, I expulsed le air from mi nez

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

as a french aprentice, yes. this is a crack whore croissant.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is really cool, but I thought the dough was a carpet

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Croissants fit for the (drag) Queen.

i don't particularly enjoy key and peele but the continental breakfast skit spoke to me

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The dough is pretty, but it bakes up kind of ugly.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

looks absolutely fucking gross. I would probably puke (and not rainbows) if I ate one of these things IRL.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They are giving the frogs rainbow croissants, and it's turning them gay!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

And the French are revolting

9 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 4

Ohh please stop em they tend to lose their head over these things

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

idk, Romain Tessier sounds kinda french to me

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Completely, wtf is this rainbow poop

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

case and point

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah the French are pretty disgusting. Have you been to Paris? Yuck

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

And puking in between. That is also why the Brexit was a necessity.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

In my professional opinion as a pastry chef: not worth the effort. More time spent to make a, frankly, uglier product.

9 years ago | Likes 618 Dislikes 55

Amen!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I agree as someone who is allergic to yellow dye I'm tired of all this nonsense.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Consumer here. Would buy one.

9 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 12

Consumer here. Those look tacky are ludicrously expensive. I like my food looking like food.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Good on you if you consume no food with added coloring. It's a fun stupid one time thing here, didn't say I'd buy them often.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For 3 and a half quid? You're having a laugh mate

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

seems reasonable for a well baked product.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not that expensive, considering. It's not like they're wallmart , 5 for $1 croissants.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How much are normal croissants at the same shop though, and at other shops in the area?

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

If they sell, and even better, if they bring free advertising, then they are worth it. It's clearly a publicity stunt, and it seems to be /1

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

working. /2

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Quite. The fact that we are discussing it at all is rather proof that it was worth the effort, for them at least.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Exactly.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely uglier. Normal croissants are beautiful enough

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 12

If I saw these sold, it would probably make me go: right, how much artificial coloring goes into these?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe it looks better upfront instead of a shoddy picture.. Food advertisements have showed that pictures & reality are completely different

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In my professional opinion as a Jew: who cares? You just got some schmuck to pay nearly 4 bucks for 25 cents worth of dough.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In my non professional and somewhat drunk opinion as a customer : Why you want a gay croissants ?

9 years ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 27

It's unicorn mania.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

To further the agenda!

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I would say: not woth the effort tasting, it's an english croissant

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I mean, it would work as a gimmick for a limited time. But as a full-time product it wouldn't be worth the effort

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the hell? Why are there 15 comments that don't like colorful croissants? That baffles me, is this supposed to be edgy? What's the matter?

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

I don't want to eat orange and purple food :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

It's that we love and accept croissants as the beautiful pastry miracles they already are. Also, fucking £3.50 for a single croissant!?

...wow, holy shit. Dude. I'm not the one worked up, here. In fact, I've said nothing negative about them, save the expense. Chill. Fuck.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

More that them colouring them is edgy, and they look good enough already

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

So someone isn't allowed to give them some color? That bothers you? What the hell...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not only that, but they look way less buttery and flaky than a regular, well-made croissant

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In my hungry opinion: if it doesn't come with extra tastes. It ain't worth it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

As a amateur cook in everything. I agree

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Agreed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

*In your professional opinion as a well jelly pastry chef.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

as a french man. No. fuck no.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

They're cute! And my lesbian ass wants one...because rainbows and gayness.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who here understands how marketing works? Mhm, thought so. Good day Sirs. I SAID GOOD DAY SIRS!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh come now. Try one. Maybe it'll put the Hmmm back in your Heyyyyy.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

289 quid a day - gross

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

They're charging 3.50. They didn't say that was the cost of making them.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Bunch of fucking economists on this post

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

From the looks of it, its just a thick layer of food coloring on normal dough. So the costs are in the cent region.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Quid= common vernacular in U.K. for pound coin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

280 pound sterling before costs

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I'm not sure what you're talking about? What costs 280?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

80 x 3.50 this is your last clue

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

As a lifelong restauranteur, I second that opinion. Unfortunately, they will sell... just like rainbow cakes and unicorn lattes ...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

...then they're worth it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why unfortunately? Let people enjoy them. I can see why people find them pretty, although it's subjective I guess. Either way no harm done

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because it's a shame when pastry chefs make better products but others take the market with gimmicks and people lose track of what 'good' is

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Well maybe for me 'good' is a croissant that looks like a unicorn ate it first, whadda you know

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does it matter? Food doesn't always have to be "serious". Fun things are okay too.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun is fine ... maybe I'm a purist, but food-dyed, mass-produced croissants will be a poor final product. Sad to me to see them sold at all
