Hi, I’m a Brit living in Australia and I just had my first bull-ant bite/sting combo.

May 12, 2018 11:08 PM

This little fucker crawled into my bed as I slept and attacked me. He’s 4cm long. Just look at those choppers. “The venom from Myrmecia stings are among the most potent in the insect world.”

I woke up immediately and thought I was dying. This is about 3 minutes after the attack. I thought my appendix had ruptured or something.

Check out the velvet ants over here in the states. Not really an ant but you're pretty sure death is better after being stung.

We call them "cunt ants" probably doesn't need an explanation. I got stung on the crease beween bum and thigh once. That was a shit day.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Wait, Bull ant ot Bullet ant?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bull ant. They are common in Australia. They are arseholes but not as bad as bullet ants.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recognize it probably hurts like the extreme dickens, but imagine when you get to tell this story later and your cool badass points go up

Real australians don't fear bullants, they fear green ants and jumping jacks. Less painful each, but theres billions of them.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A Brit living in Australia...? Should have gotten a better lawyer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What an asshole. Have You seen a blue bottle yet? Straight from hell

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It BOTH stung and bit you? Yikes!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Picture made me want to find out if gold colored ants exist naturally, Instead I found a penis enlargement pill called golden ant...

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

There's definitely a silvery ant that lives in the desert - looks baller.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hardly see these indoors where I am in Melb luckily but this was one that got me camping down Lorne way

I don't think that's a bull ant. Bull ants are bigger and a deep red.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There're nearly 100 different species of them, ranging from solid black to multi-coloured and oddly pretty.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

R.I.P. @OP

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I was about 6, I pissed on a bull ants nest. They were not kind to me. And, i am female so I was alot closer to them than a male would be

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you learn. Do you have scars. Can we see?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I leaned very quickly... thankfully no scars.... ya pervert :p

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are very smart. Good deal. Had to ask, just in case :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eat it. You'll absorb it's power.

8 years ago | Likes 247 Dislikes 0

And then you can dive bomb for fish because your vision's enhanced

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THIS IS THE COOL PATROL DAAAAAAAAANCE

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is actually bush tukka. Tastes peppery

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No no no. Blast it with radiation and let it bite you again.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. It's supposed to be the possessive. Autocorrect doesn't recognize the difference and always uses the apostrophe.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Totally true, I ate like a hundred fire ants. Spicy tingly little bastards, but I was immune to the bite/sting for at least 3 years

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Haha. That's fantastic.

So now you're about to find out if its' hospital time because of an allergy you never knew you had. Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 465 Dislikes 1

My parents yard has a nest of these (we call them inch ants) that we haven’t been able to find & kill. Found out the hard way I was allergic

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Luckily for me it’s not a serious allergy but fuck do they hurt like a MF

Go to chemist/supermarket and get Stingos Spray.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Nah I had a 'mild' allergic reaction, they sort of turned into bigger welts. Just walk it off

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

^^ Not a soft cunt.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nah tbh I cried a whole lot and went home from school

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I fell on a nest before. It was worst than all the times a broke bones. Good luck op

8 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 1

Holy shit

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I stuck my hand under a paving stone with a nest under it. You only make that mistake once.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good lord

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

I don't mind insects and bugs. But I hate bull ants with an absolute passion.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I kind of want to see pics... how many stings?

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

No pic sorry. I didn't take photos while I was working.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I used to take kids on camp for work. They were walking through the bush. I saw the best. Kid didn't. I pushed him out of the way and

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Got stung round 5 times on the legs. Then another 3 in the armpit. I never swore on front of my students. But I let out a massive "FUCKKKK"

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Completely justified, and all the more reason for me to never visit. Too many things that want to kill me, or make me wish I was dead.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Update: the swelling has gone down and the pain is almost gone. /a/0HDqo8L

How come it was golden? DID YOU GET MAD AND PUT IT IN YOUR SMELTER

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good deal... It's weird to think it's sunny there right now, I get that the world is round, but sometimes I forget it's sunny elsewhere

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Old trick from when we were kids camping, get a fern stalk, the little foot high jobs that grow everywhere, break the stem and paint >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

> the bite with the sap, works a treat, pain gone. Dunno why.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sap from a Gympie Gympie tree works best.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, that's not nice. But I suppose you should always investigate a plant before taking advice about it's medicinal properties from strangers
