That is not true. Such justifications can easily be manufactured or even ignored. Ironically, actual violence might be the only realistic way to keep the plan from progressing since they will be busy handling an actual situation rather than pursuing their plans.

Digging deeper, it's about a fantasy where they get to kill people and will be celebrated for it. As fantasies go, it has to be very specific. It has to have an element of percieved danger (e.g. unarmed people with a higher melanin count), but pose little actual danger (e.g. fighting armed professionals), and it has to be seen as some kind of societal good by their peers (e.g. not helping someone they hate).
Opposing a white supremacist government is as far from that fantasy as it gets.
