corruption. thats the answer.

not only a judge but isn't there an act of Congress that demands the files be released, like, at the beginning of the year sometime.

There has been an expansion of the powers of the executive office of the president. The courts, including the Supreme Court, never had any real power outlined in the constitution. Congress is supposed to check the president with veto overrides and impeachment but when the party that controls Congress is also the party the president is the leader of, then Congress becomes a willing accomplice in whatever the president is doing. The constitution doesn’t mention political parties.

read the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence. Shit like this is why our forefathers wrote a specific amendment, and why I, as a bleeding heart liberal, defend it.

Too bad all those amendment people are psychotic baby/villains....

The Republican Party enabled a major fascist takeover of the US Government by confirming Trump's candidate patsies who would be "YES" people... doing whatever he said.

The most egregious was Kash Patel appointed to the FBI, Pete Hegseth appointed as SecDef, and then Bondi & Blanche made head of the DOJ. Oh and Ratcliffe @ CIA and Gabbard as DNI.

All of these people served Trump, not us.

Any judges named in the Tr/Ep files?

6 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The same way state Judge Juan Merchan granted an unconditional discharge, meaning no jail time, fines, or probation, citing the constitutional respect owed to the office for an asshole.

In fascist dictatorships, judicial decisions and laws mean absolutely nothing to presidents...

The judicial could actually do something about it, if they had the marbles.

Because the USA is no longer a "nation of laws". It is a kakistocracy, kleptocracy, and oligarchy combined.

Laws that are not enforced are not laws. They are noise. Rules that have no effect are not rules. They are noise.

He still has balls to kick? Aren't they just shriveled up raisins that have become necrotic?

One can only trust that the opposite can be said of the pain receptors

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's just it. Dude doesn't seem capable of feeling pain of ANY kind.

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. I will explain it.

Enforcing laws and judgements against the people you have entrusted to enforce laws and judgements gets ugly when that group becomes corrupt. As our executive and legislative branches have.

In the olden days you'd drag out your leadership and chop off their heads. Today we need to vote.

5 hours ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

also the fact SCOTUS effectively ruled that only congress can punish POTUS. Given the circus is in full swing they wont ever do anything to the cringmaster

1 hour ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can still take them out and chop off their heads. Who ever said you couldn't? And why would you believe a MAGAt?

4 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

here's hoping they dont simply say "fuck your vote" the same as theyve been saying "fuck your laws"

Wouldn't help - one smart thing the founding fathers did was ensure a "weak" central government. The states - including the big rich ones - would simply not accept the new (or continuing) government as legitimate. Might be a constitutional crisis, but *would* mean an immediate halt to commerce - and the world runs on money. Stop paying folks and they stop doing your bidding.

I dont expect it would be a quick gfy we're in charge kinda thing, but given the extensive and aggressive replacement of people throughout the government, I wouldn't put it past them to try regardless of how bad it screws everyone or how severe consequences would be for anyone. just sounds a lot like if they choose the gfy route, its gonna be shit for the lot of us regardless of the outcome

If they say "fuck your vote" the military ACTUALLY follows their oath and says "fuck you GET OUT."

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I very much hope you are correct about that being the result in those circumstances, given their aggressive replacement of military heads though, I cant say I'm certain about jack

The courts don't work fast. Right now there's an active lawsuit to enforce the Epstein Transparency Act, and the judge is very carefully building a case for holding Todd Blanche and the DOJ lawyers appearing in his court under contempt. He's building it carefully so the contempt charges survive appeal.

I've been following Katie Phang's Youtube channel, but I can't find a better source talking about it outside of that.

Not to be a bitch about things, but I generally avoid yt too, however this I will check out since you were gracious enough to share an alternate source. I appreciate it.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good info there. I will remain cautiously optimistic that something will come of all this obvious legal cloak and dagger mumbo jumbo. I hope they keep the pressure on. Make those subpoenas stick.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Easy, because the Justice Department is headed by the Executive Branch, effectively making the president above the law.

7 hours ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

don't forget that a majority of congress absolutely refuses to act. a slim majority but enough

7 hours ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

You do realize you need a super majority to get any non-budget actions passed in the senate.....right?

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the Judicial branch has endorsed the idea of an Executive above the law.

6 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It isn't slim. Democrats held power during the Biden administration and did fuck all to prosecute trump then. They could've released the Epstein files then too but chose not to because Dems are implicated too. They're complicit in this. That majority isn't slim.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Of course they tried. There were several trails in progress. Republicans and Trump stalled for 4 years and you blame the democrats? Youre playing right into their playbook

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was nothing stopping them from releasing the files during Biden's four years. And the DOJ under Garland didn't even try going after Trump for his crimes. Yes I blame Democrats. They're guilty too. They don't get a pass in any of this just because Republicans were worse.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who actually followed the trails and court precedings very closely...that point od view is extremely depressing and shows very strong opinions on subjects you don't understand

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll tell you why.
The US Marshals are technically the enforcement arm of the Judiciary. However, they are actually controlled by the Department of Justice.

Which means the courts have no actual enforcement mechanism in place, whatsoever. This is why it's been something of a social contract for the DOJ to operate independently and not in the interests of the Executive Branch.

4 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Less of a social contract and more of constitutional doctrine, but they dgaf about either

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why Biden's choice of Merrick Garland was seen as optimal at the time, and turned out to be wrong when it became evident that Garland was slow-walking the case against Trump.
Now the DOJ is run by sycophants that are completely loyal to Trump, meaning they won't enforce any judicial bench warrants that are issued.

The courts can deputize to enforce their orders, if the marshals refuse. They'd have their pick of qualified volunteers, if they ever had the brass to do something.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the problem, isn't it. They don't seem willing to do that because it risks sparking off a civil war.

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. It's maddening that so many people seem to think that letting the totalitarians just have it all their own way is the better option.

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's more about not potentially kicking out one of the legs holding up the clearly broken system, than it is about reforming it.
