Romeo Bilateral Radial Agenesis

This is Romeo

Romeo was born a little different than other dogs. He was found in a ditch on the side of the road in rural Kansas by a truck driver.

Someone abandoned him because he was different.

You see he was born with a condition known as Bilateral Radial Agenesis.

He is missing the Radial Bone in both of his forearms. This caused him to walk on his elbows, and poorly at that.

We were asked by a rescue to take and help Romeo. My wife and I do rescue and rehabilitation for injured and handicapped animals.

Romeo Now

We worked with a world class orthopedic surgeon to help Romeo. The surgeon used external fixators to slowly turn and straighten his forearms to a more correct position. Then the surgeon installed plates in his wrists to help stabilize and strengthen the joint. Today Romeo is happy, healthy, and mobile. He has a great quality of life and can enjoy being like other dogs.
