The gift arrives!

At 8:00 AM sharp, we get a knock on the door and get handed this box by a man who said he was instructed to give it to us. Our Secret Santa had informed us to be ready by then so we were just pacing the apartment waiting to get started.

Found the Last Supper sculpture and there was another clue awaiting our arrival!

Code Breakers

Two tickets to the Phoenix Zoo and codes for us to solve in the zoo!

Phoenix Zoo

My girlfriend had never been to the Phoenix Zoo and I had not been since they unveiled the new tiger exhibit and the baby orangutan! We ended up having to find a lizard, a bird, the lion exhibit and the mandrills to figure out our codes. Each number combination, much like National Treasure, represented a line, a word, and a letter in that word. The clue said, "Diego Pops. Arrive between 11:30-12:15."

Mexican food in Scottsdale? Great, because we were starting to get pretty hungry. We may or may not have gotten a pretzel at the zoo...

Great Tacos

Our waitress told us our entire bill was covered by our Secret Santa, so we could get whatever we wanted: tacos!

Quesadilla Girlfriend

The girlfriend was very pleased with her tacos and quesadilla. Our favorite taco place had temporarily shut down because of construction downtown and this place quickly became our new favorite.

Mirror Maze

We had never been to the mirror/laser maze in Scottsdale!

We were greeted at the mirror maze in Scottsdale and told they had been waiting for us. As we went through the maze (wearing gloves), we were handed another clue when we had almost arrived at the end by an unknown participant.

Dewey Decimal

This one took longer to figure out than we'd like to admit. We headed toward the "LOVE" statue in Scottsdale and after a hint from our Secret Santa, went to the public library.

Leonardo da Vinci

Found another clue in a giant book about Leonardo da Vinci (The Last Supper). It gave us a map of downtown Scottsdale with a feather marking a location, the same feather drawn on an original clue given to us.

Scenic pictures. After making sure we didn't have to hike up Camelback Mountain with our Secret Santa, we headed to Papago Park.

It took us a couple tries to find the right trail, but we eventually found our way.

We found another participant on top of the butte at Papago Park and were handed another clue after I sang the first line of Bear Down Arizona...As an ASU alumni, it was a little upsetting to find out my Secret Santa was a Wildcat... "Arrive at Rokerij. Order a drink at the bar and wait." Before we left, we laid down and just looked at the beautiful view for awhile.

The Architect

Our Secret Santa surprised us and sat right down beside us! He gave us a bottle of champagne to congratulate us on finishing the scavenger date! We talked for awhile and found out we had a ton in common. He's working on creating a business creating custom scavenger hunts for birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor parties, etc. I told him that I'd love to help him with another one someday by giving a clue to the participant. We had a blast on our date and couldn't have asked for a better Reddit Secret Santa 2015.
