Let’s observe my father-in-law and not laugh, rather notice that he is living the height of the American dream: he rests while loved ones play in the house he built

My BIL has this magic ability to fall asleep anywhere. A bomb could go off

Maybe being around the family is the most relaxing thing to him and the exhaustion from everything else takes over... I get it.

Dad's do that.

because he's thinking, "These people are so boring...In my day we played killer music and ripped fat bong hits and now it's rummy and chips"

@OP Easier back when companies gave a fuck about what employees thought of them. Stopped caring 30 years ago, can't even get a job now.

That's not an American dream, but the dream of every single human being that's ever lived.

This is 100% peace and happiness. Love it.

These people have BOOKS on their coffee table. I like these people.

Plant trees so that children can enjoy the shade.

And a pile of dog bones beside him

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And you're with him instead of playing? Are you not a loved one?

Oh to be able to sit on the sofa and be left alone for two minutes!!!

Jesus I hope my family never films me sleeping & puts it online. Terrible invasion of privacy

If your Dad isn't asleep on the couch like this by 6 is he even your dad?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He will also brag about how early he woke up,moments before falling into a couch coma

Incidentally, I had that toy on the coffee table all the way back in the 80s and loved it so much. Some toys don’t need upgrading I guess!

Fisher Price desk. We had all the Fisher Price toys.

Someone needs to yank his shirt upwards and blow massive, wet flurbles on his belly.

I have two favorites of my dad one sleeping at the table with an empty coffee cup and another of him on the couch with a jar of pickles RIP

He’s sleeping; but his ears are loving the noises of family. Perfection. Great job homeslices

I love that

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think that is what puts dads to sleep. The noise of family. It sounds like safety and comfort.

"I did ok today."

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The good dads, the ones that paid their dues by working their tails off helping mom build a future. Sleep well sir.

Yer absolutely correct. (That’s what I hear). Being the best I can.

Yep, my dad is known to doze off at family gatherings as his grown kids chit chat at the table...he tells us hearing our voices is soothing.

That, and the fact he got up at 4:45 to start mowing the lawn and be the first one done with it on the block. Power move!

Does he snore a lot? If so, he may have sleep apnea.

5 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 7

Sleep apnea is very serious. bro-in-law nearly died, spent 3 days in coma. Pls get treated & follow treatment plan if you have this, people

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the open mouth is a good sign yes. I started snoring and open mouth sleeping also when my apnea got bad. CPAP changed my life.

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

You have said that earlier too, haven't you?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did a sleep study last month, just set my appointment to get my cpap. pretty excited about it. Looking forward to not always being tired.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Can you describe how it changed your life? I have heard this before. I snore a lot but have always wondered how it might help.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to sleep in 8-10 hours and still feel tired. Now just 4/5 hours feels like I slept double that but better. Wake up alert not groggy.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is what I was hoping for - I have a lot of that and have tried various things to remedy (different sleep times, zen alarm clock, etc)

Longer, uninterrupted REM means more restful sleep. Better sleep affects pretty much every single aspect of waking life.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For me, it cut down my migraines by half. No more super severe ones that landed me in the ER either. More regulated moods and lower stress

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

sleep helps regulate cortisol which has massive effects for your body from weight regulation to heart health. There are many other health

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

benefits but for me I couldn't stay awake during phone calls, while reading, and watching TV was just one big nap. It's made a world of diff

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is it hard to sleep w that thing

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Your sleep improves, you get more deep REM sleep, because you're not constantly waking up in a struggle to breathe

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You gotta will yourself to do it. The 1st week I dreamt I was drowning but now I can't sleep without it. It's been a God send. I couldn't

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

stay awake to read a book or even hold a conversation...forget going to a movie; CPAP changed all that.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's impossible to sleep with for me. Others don't mind it. I only get more frustrated.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I struggled too for a while and some nights still do. Key for me was trying a lot of nasal pillow sizes. Also not putting it on right away.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It felt suffocating to put it on as soon as I laid down so I wait 5-10 minutes, relax then do it. Slower respirations, heart rate, etc.
