A day on the life: A rare treat!

Dec 4, 2017 7:31 PM

What the inside of a mail truck looks like

About 50 stops down roughly 300 to go...

You don't encounter many jerks in package delivery. It can be stressful at times but it's actually a very cush job most of the time.

I can count on one hand all the weirdos, assholes, and crazies I've encountered throughout my career. This level of thoughtfulness has made my day. Thank you random stranger for your random act of awesome!

Edit: first time on front page since the send nudes thing started. So get on that shit ladies!

The loader didn't do a very good job, unless it's one of those loads with 430+ pieces.

He wants you to send nudes. Go on ahead, boys, he clearly knows how to handle packages! :D

Poor DHL

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Worked in the hub for 5 years, drove for 1. My knees are worth more.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I unload for FDX Ground and my knees and back are constantly sore

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go Grove family.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is an amazing idea. I will be doing this when I have a house.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Why wait? Randomly set one up in front of someone else's house.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I’m not a lady but I’m sending nudes for the cause! Merry Christmas v

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just got a job in this field. It helps to have big hands. Makes me reconsider ordering things online and my mailbox.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that truck load is a MESS. no wonder why they come all banged up... if i catch the asshats who did the loading job...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i was a driver helper one time during the holidays. froze my ass off with the damn door open all day! thanks for doing it year-round!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I as well, gets so cold my nips start to bleed

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

350, is kinda light”,, “ for peak “ huh “ Orion “ says your holding back, dispatch can assist, with the IE. Team.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sounds like a meet point is coming! Lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have mad love for our deivers. In fact, they are only reason I shovel my driveway, make their life easier.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve worked the night shift at UPS during the holiday season for a couple years now. Hard work but it pays pretty damn good while it last

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Also lots of respect for the drivers. They tend to come in early and help us out. They also drive until 8-9pm. Crazy working those hours

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I recently worked my first pre loading shift. That stuff is nuts, brought a whole new level of respect for the full time employees

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah once it hits between Christmas and New Years it’s a mad house. I’ll normally clock 12-14 hours a day in that stretch

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm excited to be part of the team, I'm just a truck helper but I'm enjoying it so far. I hope they keep me on full time

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loaded these trucks a few years back. Don't forget about the pre-loaders, as they put everything so that it comes out in the right order

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My driver has to reorganize the truck every day, although, I think hes crazy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is adorable. And yes, THANK YOU for delivering packages during the holidays (:

8 years ago | Likes 424 Dislikes 0

Leaving out treats for drivers is a great idea, I should do that myself.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

so much this! I'm pretty sure relations for a big mac qualifies as no homo. unless you are a female in which case it may end up in court :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

aka: I want a big mac and or a whopper.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

although I'd settle for curly fry from Arby's.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love those little curly bastards

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a carrier little things like this can make our day. Last Christmas Eve I had a lady meet me with fresh fried pies.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP bruh, yall are the lifeblood of the economy. I constantly have to remind myself not to gush when thanking you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's not easy but it's not hard. I thank you for your appreciation and support. It means a lot more than you know. Godspeed my fellow human!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL there is not a single fucking gif of Gen. George Hammond saying "Good luck, and godspeed" on the entire internet. WTFuck

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're giving out Snyders? Nice. Keep up being amazing, dude

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those honey mustard and onion pretzels are the shit, that person doesn't skimp. Hands will get really dirty though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All those broken-up ones with the powder are tits. Plus Hershey chocolate too, where in PA are you, @OP?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Username, uh.... is a bit worrisome, in this case.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That truck isn't full enough I can see the hand truck and the floor.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I remember many mornings of opening up the bulkhead door and seeing a wall of cardboard.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You literally can't see where any of the boxes go. No more sorting the truck.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never met a bad UPS driver, but when I ran a home business, I never once had a UPS shipment go right.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just Unlucky, warehouse manager here for 5 years, UPS is by far our most reliable option. Maybe 1-2 screw ups a month. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I think the local place in Chicago just had a shit manager. All my packages through them were either delayed by weeks, lost, or arrived

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

torn and damaged. And I never used Fedex, they're way too slow and expensive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fedex though, with their contracted drivers we'd get shitty service all the time, and they have stupid protocols like delivering one 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

early delivery package in the morning then coming back 2 hours later to deliver the standard delivery package, just dumb. 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hello fellow UPSer and Orion hater.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can confirm there is nowhere near 300 stops in that truck. Source: I work for UPS. Whhyyy lie

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Right plus there is way more room in there, they didn't have to load up the middle yet.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My workplace always keeps bottled water on hand for delivery guys in summer, and hot cocoa and cider ready to quickly fix in winter.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A lot of local hospitals have beverages and snacks for us EMS guys after we drop off patients. It's a big morale booster.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at UPS as a preloader. I have to get up at 12:30 every morning and load until 9 since December started. STOP SHIPPING THINGS!!!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon, sorry for your back

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We start at 2:00am, how big is your hub?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty big. Its the Charlotte, NC Hub. 5 belts and mine has around 25-30ish trucks, three trucks per person.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As New Yorker I can say that people who wish me a "blessed" anything get so far on my nerves it's unbearable. Just let me get on with my day

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

The snax? Nice touch. Don't cutesy it up with blessings

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You COULD just say “thanks” and appreciate the positive sentiment. It’s more fun to be cranky-pants though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Of course it's more fun to complain. We live in New York City. That's all we get!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well you certainly can't get on with your day after they wish you well! Bastards.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's just such an intrusion

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would it be better for you if they all said "fuck off", or do you need to just not be spoken to?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Either would be good, honestly. Or just. "Have some candy."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yesterday, my package left the FedEx location in Pennsylvania, and today it said it was in New Jersey. I live in California.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The fastest and cheapest way to go cross country isn’t always the most direct

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was most likely sent to hub to be transferred with other westward bound deliveries.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

New Jersey must be the closest east coast hub that sends out cross country packages. Like UPS if you order next day it'll go to Kentucky1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Then it'll go on a plane from there to the nearest air hub, then truck to the nearest delivery hub. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've worked in retail and service for over 20 years, getting deliveries daily. I have met a good 30 UPS drivers and they were all great!

8 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

I've always loved my UPS drivers

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

exactly how much? ;)... goddamn I'm lonely...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FedEx Ground on the other had seems to hire everyone that couldn't make the cut elsewhere.... least in my area.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

damn skippy it's cuz we love love our jobs and the people we deliver to.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not gonna lie. We are pretty fucking awesome!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats on the sex.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except Dan.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dan was NOT, I repeat, NOT the man

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UPS and my normal mail carrier are great and my family always gives them cards. USPS lost 3 packages in the past week though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

always remember it is not the drivers fault. the misplacement of a package could mean several things. its on another truck, 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it didn't make the deadline to be loaded on that trucks route 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and/or you are a cunt and we know it so we burned it at the warehouse utilizing the furnace.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No be seriously if it doesn't arrive when it says it's going to it is a computer error and very rarely a human error.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No the driver does a shit job. Throws all the packages in the lobby of a 500 apt building /a/kzbUN that times 3 basically1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Today this dude delivered me two boxes of medical supplies which I brought to some old lady that could barely walk and had a care taker 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So at this point the guy needs to be fired. Address wasn’t even close

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would do this, if the jerks actually delivered nything to me, instead, they just stop by my mailbox with a note that I wasn't home

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If you're buying stuff from Amazon, have it delivered to a local locker. You'll get a text and pick it up when you're available.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Set up a ups account and change your preferences to have them leave it, or change with the shipper

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It doesn't worj with the postal service where I live, and we dont get UPS

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well that sucks, I’d miss out on a good chunk of my household needs if I didn’t get UPS deliveries

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This gets my UPs vote

8 years ago | Likes 201 Dislikes 1

You sir and or madam are someone I want to date simply for your comment. are you of the female persuasion?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Afraid not. But if you promise to 'deliver the goods' I might be persuaded regardless.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

nice!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Careful with that discrimination, the FedEx guy's gonna get salty

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's why he's an Ex

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck that cunt! I stuck it out for 8 years through dental school to be dumped for a polish guy with no degree and a shit job. Fukcing polls!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I welcome the dual. Our trucks are much larger and FedEx is full of a bunch of FedPussies as far as I'm concerned...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m parcel about it

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I assume this is a 'partial' pun? +1 for trying. I've done worse.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

oh haven't we all. I am more partial to parcel jokes that contain dildos and pocket pussies. It's shocking how often they don't brown bag it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in no position to judge. This happen to me 18 years old. My super freak ex ordered toys for us and sent them to my moms place (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She was hysterical with laughter after I explained the situation. The girlfriend and shortly after my ex was mortified, I was delighted ;)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about UsPs vote

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I prefer instant validation. USPS takes 3-7 days priority. Fuck that ! The name of the game for our generation is instant gratification.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True. I've received packages that said it was suppose to be delivered days before. Depends if it gets to the station

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's peak season. realize ups handles all major delivery services including ebay, 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

amazon, personal, and I'm sure many more. I've only just started working for them.2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a FedEx truck though...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, no it is not!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it's not. I can clearly see "UPS Ground" on one of the shipping labels.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also the label clearly says "UPS" in #2 and #3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for backing me up
