Kevin Conroy will always be THE Batman for me. Note his Batman had 3 voices, "Bruce Wayne" high register casual voice he uses out of his suit among normal people, "Batman" - gruff voice for people who don't know his identity, and "Real Bruce" that he's use regardless if he's in the suit or not, he only uses around people who know - this is also the voice he uses internally - the same tone as his Batman voice, but noticeably more casual and less severe compared to when he's going full Batman.
From this to Superman the animated series, static shock, Justice league, heave league unlimited. These shows set the highest standard for me for DC superhero media. Hardly any live action movie has lived up the characterizations or story the writers of this shows made.
This must be incorrect, the show premiered in the 90s. It hasn't been *that* long... right?
Anywho, the creator of Batman TAS has a new series on Prime, more adult oriented, but very similar style. Batman Caped Crusader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNhijtUqyeg
Watched "Total Recall" the other night and only just then put together that Arnie's construction site "friend" Harry is the guy that voiced Detective Bullock in this
Also Two-face is Bull from Night Court and the Penguin wrote ‘Rainbow Connection’. I think the guy who voiced the Joker may have been in a few other thing too.
It's why Alfred is more than just a passive background character. It's why Harley Quinn exists. It's why Mr Freeze has a backstory. It's why Two Face has a backstory. It's why Bruce and Batman have different personalities (Batman is firmly a persona rather than just a costume).

As a kid I never wanted to miss an episode.

4. Justice lord batman was ever so slightly different too.

Loved the show as a kid, very much was into the art style, the music, and it being all about Batman.
tsuyoshiro
This opening is like an optimistic resume for Batman. Watch me take on these generic bad guys, so fast and easy!
Osiricus
When that came on after school, it was magic.
obsessivesnuggler
And there is a new animated movie. Knightfall Part 1. Just arrived on streaming in my country.
ToSisPoS
I choose to believe that the Arkham series was its eventual culmination.
cullingg
I preferred Phantom 2040. Released in 1994
FckleberryFarms
The first ... 2 1/2 seasons are works of art, it falls off hard after that.
iananimated
I used to have the OST of the Batman movie on tape cassette and I'd blast it on my shitty stereo in my car all the time.
UnlimitedTrickPony
ah yes, the good old times ... no bullshit, just Batman ... when GREEN-HAIRED FREAKS got punched in the face and were LOCKED UP IN THE ASYLUM (Arkham)

"I was there, Gandalf..." Saturday morning cartoons were changed forever for me.
horseWnoname
best batman by far.
gonzar09
RIP, Kevin. It was a welcome surprise to hear him one last time in DMC years after his passing. I didn't think he had anything to do with it.
Lampmonster
Best Joker too.

He's also the construction worker who talks to the class before Billy Crystal in the beginning of "City Slickers."

This show changed the entire franchise.

It's why Harley Quinn exists.
It's why Mr Freeze has a backstory.
It's why Two Face has a backstory.
It's why Bruce and Batman have different personalities (Batman is firmly a persona rather than just a costume).
And a whole lot more.
TheBunnyPants
The first season of caped crusader is actually really good. It's the one released in 2024.
SirRuppOfFigs
Yes! I enjoyed that.
jay5M
You didn’t like the second season?
TheBunnyPants
I like it but it wasn't as good as the first
SirRuppOfFigs
Haven't seen it yet
