These were taken last August in Michigan. We were swimming in the lake my brother-Inlaw lives on. At first I thought I was seeing things. Oddly I was.
After getting over the disbelief of what I was seeing I grabbed a bottle and carefully sucked them up with the lake water.
These little guys were all over. After some net searching we found out that fresh water jellyfish are a thing. They can happen in inland lakes, and appear anywhere from 1-7 years apart.

They are not dangerous to people, they can't break the skin, even. They feed on zooplankton including daphnia and copepods.

Yes but it so weak a person can’t feel it. That what we read anyhow. While swimming none of us felt anything.

I believe they cant go too far though. They'll have to return to saltwater at some point and can only be found in the lower mississippi area

Article was 5 yrs old. They can be spread in the polyp stage by boats not getting cleaned between lakes. Also, stings don't hurt, too small.
