Meditation dive

Nemo 33 is an indoor dive center with one of the deepest artificial diving pools in the world located in Brussels region of Belgium. The pool contains 2.5 million liters (2500 m 3 ) of un-chlorinated water, which is heated to 30 ° C and is 33m deep.

Nope, just nope.

My legs don’t bend that way so I guess I’m out too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I drowned watching this video.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm good in the shallow end with my beer

Did he receive a piece of a heart for reaching the bottom?

I wish I could upvote this more than once

Was there an air tank down there? How long in total did he hold his breath?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is there something like fear of deep pools? I think I have that now.....

Such a great scene.

The moment when you've fucked up, but come to accept your life is a failure and just deal with it.

Is it possible to feel both peace and major anxiety while watching this? Cuz that's what I'm getting

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Held my breath for the length of this gif.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Surprisingly was not that long

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I tired but the nachos I ate earlier and my position on the sofa made it impossible.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i failed half way to bottom just from anxiety!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You had me at un chlorinated

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's nice of @OP's mum to rent her vagina out as a pool.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Unchlorinated? Someone always pees in the pool. Always.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Right? I was wondering the same. Does that mean it's salt?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to freedive, but this still freaked me TF out.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Salt water?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would want to play in there a bit. ...But what's with the 'Mens and 'Women' markings on the bottom?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Nemo 33

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't you read? It's unchlorinated, so you have to label it so people know which side they should pee in.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Comes out of the water like nothing. I'm spitting out water and looking for air after 10 seconds

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh my god no way. At 10 ft. my ears are bursting and how do people hold their breath for so long???

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are techniques, like making swallowing motion, that equalize the pressure in your ears. Makes it no different from being at surface

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started breathing heavily just by watching this

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fuck. That.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like they cut together more than one dive, what's that thing on his wrist in some shots but not others?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like a dive watch. I think it’s there the whole time. If you mean the thing he puts on his wrist at the bottom, probably a can of air

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Regardless it probably was footage from a few different attempts, at least for the editor’s sake

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It freaks me out that once you hit around 10m you start sinking instead of floating.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Imagine the pressure in his ears.

8 years ago | Likes 853 Dislikes 3

... and other open orifices.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

This is horrifying

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine all the people

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or his knees, or spine

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a hole in my ear drum, this would either give me such a bad ear infection or kill me.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well....then, please don’t do this

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's nothing compared to the pressure my wife can put on my ears.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Diving 5 meters hurts, 33 must be fucking intense

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Learn to equalise your ears mate

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm imagining about 4.3 bar

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3.3 bar, roughly a bar per ten meters, you wouldn't include atmospheric pressure.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why not?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry, replied to my own comment

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a 3.3 bar change from the initial pressure that humans are adapted to. Same reason you will rarely see a pressure gauge start at 1 bar.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ah, makes sense

He had a clamp on his nose, I imagine he was depressurizing as he went down

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Hope he's exhaled before diving - could end up with a nasty case of stretched lungs.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

His earwax turned to diamonds

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Eardrums have flaps... pain you feel is the flaps being pressed. If you open the flaps you equalise the pressure. Hold nose & breathe out.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

Eardrums don't have flaps...eustachian tubes. Not flaps.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

+1. JohnSmithterms has flaps to release his gray matter.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cmon, they open and close in a very similar way to flaps, I blame my spanish diving instructor for that description :S

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 For a more accurate description, thanks.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why you have to do pressure equalization - hold your nose closed and "breathe" out through it. Her the cracking sound? That's it.

8 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 3

He didn't equalize once! I don't get know how he managed to get through that AND a quick ascent

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Trust me he did. As you get used to diving you can do it effortlessly without needing to squeeze your nose.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me its not so much the ears, but my head. Idk why, its the crushing pressure around my head that's unbearable. I also have a very big head

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's the sound of your eyes popping out right?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Another way is to flood the sinuses and ear canal before diving - that way there's equal pressure water on both sides of the ear drum.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

As a person who has done some diving, that sounds really friggin stupid

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How does one do this?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Put your nose in the water and breath in through it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't do that underwater though you'll blow out your eardrums, roll your jaw side to side for safer but same effect

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 8

PADI Certified rescue diver here. No, you wont. You blow out your ear drums by waiting too long and blowing too hard. Blow gently and often

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

The MK-17 diving helmet has a V-shaped adjustable device for the purpose of equalizing pressure via your nose. To each their own I suppose.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I would just die from the pain of that alone. I can't equalize unless I take pseudoephedrine. 12 feet and it feels like I popped an artery

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Try to overpressure by blowing air into your ears before going down

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Then continue to do this before it hurts. If it hurts you have to go back up to equalize. The key is to do it before it hurts.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

tried that on a 40ft dive. never works for me. I just had to go down super slowly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get to about 6ft down and my head hurts like a bitch. Which sucks cos I actually enjoy swimming.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Learn to equalise your ears

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: Margot Robbie learned to hold her breath for 5 minutes during Suicide Squad by meditating to lower her metabolic rate.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 2

That's a silly way of doing, I'm surprised that worked.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

How is it? Means you need less oxygen?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Improving your capacity is a much more reliable and easier method, consider that level of meditation requires years of practice.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

God, that movie was so unmemorable, I totally forgot about that scene for a moment. And I remember useless shit from watching TNG 20 years a

Sorry it’s reserved for hero’s only

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well then make way, because I am a hero. This morning I dropped something and caught it before it landed on the floor.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She learned to hold her breath due to her needing it for the underwater scene. She also nearly drowned filming it.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Uhhh, no she didn’t. Find me a source that says she almost drowned.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You are correct. It was Hernandez who nearly drowned. But Margot did train for her underwater scene.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

20 years ago I would've jumped in and gone to the bottom, convinced that I could do it. Today I don't think my lungs or ears can take it.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Your lungs wouldn't be effected. The pressure would just make them shrink a bit. But yeah, if you couldn't clear your ears it would suck bad

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to wonder why people did valsalva maneuvers, chewed gum, or yawned to equalize. I learned young how to open the canal w/o those.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have very thin Eustachian tubes, unable to clear them and often have pressure issues and ear infections. Just a physical limitation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All I have to do is make a swallowing motion with my tongue, for others it can be much more difficult, everyone is different.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True; I don't even have to make the swallowing motion. Somehow I just...figured out how to move the muscles. I can wiggle my ears, too.
