Look, he's amazing and I fully support him and his crusade to make a better New York more accessible to all. I hope that initiative, rubs off on the rest of the country. BUT THESE TWO CLIPS ARE NOT RELATED TO EACHOTHER! "A few moments later" implies that it is, but the first clip is inside a subway and the second clip is talking about an apartment. This is out-of-context propaganda. If you need to manipulate facts to win, then you don't deserve to.
Thanks ... I was struggling to make sense of what Mamdani said ... and I completely agree with you. He does not need such manipulated videos to garner support.
Every day this man amazes me more and more. We need more public servants like him. He is showing that government can and should work for the people, not just corporate interests.
Who didn't approve the repair for 5 months and why? Take a measure of the cost out of their paycheck or pension cos whatever their job is, they didn't do it and thought "someone else's problem".
Mamdani's not talking about a subway station elevator, but a broken elevator in an apartment building. I don't know why the person edited the two clips together.
It's bad, which is why Mamdani is addressing it, but that story has nothing to do with the initial video complaining about an elevator out at a subway station.
Mamdani's not talking about a subway station elevator, but a broken elevator in an apartment building. I don't know why the person edited the two clips together.
People who don't live in NY aren't often aware how hard it is to even TALK about fixing shit in the city, and trying to legit change things for the better is almost unheard of. Mamdani actually tries to do that shit he talks about, literally. He won't succeed at a lot, but he's also probably doing literally the best anyone could for making positive change in NYC, and hopefully becomes a launchpad for future mayors. Hopefully after many years that is...
He's also doing really great at focusing on those little quality-of-life things. Yeah the elevator should work but this is a huge city, it's one of a million little problems. But because it's small it's easy to fix, and if it's your subway station it does feel like a big deal. He's not saying he's Fixing Everything, but he's doing what he can on the fixable things.
He's been getting a lot of successes so far. The conversation has been that he's showing that it's not as difficult as the politicians make it out to be to make changes for the better. Hopefully that stays true.
I hate to say it, but its not an unique circumstance, even if the NYC is an unique place. Much of the US is this way due to poor governance that is about enriching the elected. But, that being said Mamdani is a glimpse at how governance should be, where even if partially successful, it can change the attitude of the populace tremendously.
Remember the democrats are slamming the DSA. The DSA can and does endorse candidates if they pass a fairly rigorous evaluation. Do your homework when you vote. See who is funding your candidate. The nyc DSA only has like 17k members and look who they chose. 17k out of 8million worked for the results and benefit of all.
Unfortunately, we don't have any real socialist candidates in my area at this time. That doesn't mean I am going to give up, just that I will have to be careful with my choices. That said, if I can get a kidney transplant before the 2028 elections, I am considering running for national congress under a more DSA agenda. Just couldn't this time around because I need to be focused on surviving and couldn't give the people my all if i were elected at t his time.
I'm not sure these two clips are related. That kid isn't school aged, and those stairs are in a subway station. That doesn't fit the situation he's describing.
No surprise, he's not a Republican. He's muslim, but has no hate against NYC jews. He's a man, but has no sex scandal yet... He doesn't seem corrupted... well America, there is a nice guy you have, please take care of him and don't kill him !
if he is spending all this time and money helping the poors, when is he able to help the wealthy job creators who create jobs and provide housing and molest children?
It’s presented as the extreme opposite of everything they know and love. Hell there were salsa commercials by cowboys who when given a jar made in nyc were assaulted by the rest is the crew for being unauthentic. What does a big city know of the country etc
I love this guy, but... did they fix it? Maybe I missed it but I didn't see the part where it got fixed? I will accept his promise to get it done because, unlike most politicians, he seems to actually do what he says
Yeah, the two video clips are unrelated. The first is about the elevators at a subway station and the second is Mamdani talking about his tenants' rights initiatives and how landlords have a responsibility to keep the elevators in their buildings in repair.
I also love the guy, as do many others, which is why some people who just want the views will mashcut any random clips together.
Of all the things I want repaired quickly, the mechanism that moves people in a box up and down over potentially lethal heights is something that can take a little extra time
This video was in April. The new elevators (they had to be replaced entirely) were originally scheduled to open this July, but structural issues were found when they took out the old elevators. The sign on the construction now says they expect to open in Dec of 2026. Yeah, I get that people want to get it done faster, but the fact that things are actually moving is a still very big deal.
The problem with old cities like New York is that there could be six layers of repairs needed underneath and behind that elevator. Can't replace the elevator until the rusted steel behind it is fixed. Can't fix the rusted steel until the concrete is stabilized. Can't stabilize the concrete until the leaking water main is fixed.
The difference with Mamdani is he actually approaches the job like a true leader, a general manager involved with the day to day operations of the city instead of an ivory tower executive with ten layers of delegation.
A temp elevator would probably need to be located in the same exact place as where the repairs to the old one are happening, and would need to still attach to something to hold it up safely. If there are already structural problems that may make a temporary elevator also not possible. Not sure its feasible. Honestly hiring professional groups to carry people up the stairs on a litter carried on poles seems easiest. Station them there until repairs are complete. Pay them as city employees.
Seriously. My mom is pissed about that. We live in fuck-ass Colorado! Gods, the only good thing the stupid bint is good for is her willingness to attempt to buy my love! She's buying me an e-bike on Tuesday even though I was more than fine with financing it out! Only reason I couldn't was because the site was refusing to work.
What do you think needs fixing? if you have solid things that needs fixing you might want to send him a message asking it to be fixed. If your whole life is questioning the good that happens then you need to see a doctor.
Sounds like general anxiety disorder to me maybe talk to a psychologist and therapist about how hearing good news makes you anxious. Ps if i am being sarcastic i am not i am being genuine. I have general anxiety disorder and you described it pretty well. Not being able to enjoy good news because you are worried about all things still left to do is like the number one symptom.
No, but we're testing prototype "Mini Mamdani" candidates which are expected to flood the market in the coming months. If you want to put in a pre-order I expect that your local democratic/people's socialist party can help you with the paperwork.
If a Mamdani clone is decanted from the cloning vat in US can he run for president? Ah, but he probably has to be 35 years old, he wouldn't live that long.
