This week I visited the Uyuni Salt Flats (Salar de Uyuni in Spanish): the largest salt desert in the World, located in southwest Bolivia near the Andes. 10,582 km2 of just salt.
Since there is only salt and nothing else (no trees, houses or other objects as reference), we got to play with perspective.
The trip is totally worth it, if you happen to be in or near South America, try to visit!
Bonus: next to the salt desert there is a train cemetery: a collection of locomotives from the 1890s.

Dakar Rally raced there some years ago. Many drivers had to retire because of the salt getting inside the engines.

The tour guides also told me they don’t enter the salt flats anymore (but drive next to it) because Dakar fans left tons of trash there.

We had sunglasses on and couldn’t remove them for a second, the salt totally blinds you.
