It was a bit tart, but in a good way.
Pet tax by my big goofy Flex (and his favorite hooman)!

In the north of Sweden it’s very common on the wetlands. A lot of people from Thailand come to harvest them as seasonal work. The midges can be a pest sometimes. Personally I think the taste is strange. Not bad, just different. The jam is delicious for many people and they eat it with fried Camembert cheese.

What's with the pubic hair? =0) (I love a good cheese cake!)
ufoara
So odd that they inverse ripen.
namelessfish
Say what now?
ufoara
Dark when unripe, golden/orange when ripe.

First of all, cloudberries?
Second, did you pressure cook it?
HoboToast
They’re generally found in the Arctic, but I live in the Seattle suburbs and found a patch near my house (the only patch I’ve ever seen). And the cheesecake is pressure cooked, yes.

I can finally use this.

Man I love your posts. So creative and diverse - why am I getting the vibes of a fellow divorcee though?
HoboToast
I’m still married, at least until he can no longer tolerate my weird kitchen experiments.

I appreciate labeling salt with the chemical formula. Would also have accepted CAS 7647-14-5.

Cloudberries are delicious. Here in Norway we make Cloudberry cream as a dessert, basically whipped cream, some sugar and lots of cloudberries folded in to the whipped cream. Eat with either "krumkaker"(look it up) or some suitably thin crackers/biscuits.
InitHello
My late grandfather knew of some really good cloudberry harvesting spots. Sadly he became past tense a few years ago, so I can't ask him. Also I live about 700km south of where he was.
elmesito
Multekrem med krumkaker! Delicious! It has been a few years since I had it last because of poor harvests. Hopefully next year.

I find wildberries are always more tart than the domestics we're used to. Tart cuts the creamy of the cream cheese. We have no cloudberries here but I bet I could do this with salmonberries - saving this in folders for later, thanks!
HoboToast
They aren’t too different from salmonberries, maybe a bit sweeter and less “wild” tasting. I’m in the PNW and this cloudberry patch is the only one I’ve ever seen, I don’t know how they got there.
BadBunnyLadyOfRocksTreesAndDirt
Ha I saw the molasses and cloudberries and just assumed you're in Newfoundland. :D Newfies molasses everything.
HoboToast
I just use molasses and white sugar as a substitute for brown sugar. Never been to Newfoundland, but I’d love to visit!
namelessfish
Cloudberries taste like cloudberries, which I have no idea what it tastes like

I think he's eating snozzberries.
Doompug
Welll, I think they taste of apricot/mango laced with honey but also of several earthy, slightly fermented tones. If it were a beverage it would be something you would sip, not gulp.
sjester42
Mmmm, cloudberry mead....
HoboToast
Sort of like salmonberries, but a bit sweeter.
MadamPuddifoot
That helps me none. 😢
snarkybitch
Ive never heard cloud berries and now I want to try them so badly! That look delicious
TexMexHex
There is an icelandic yogurt that has cloudberry as one of its options. I forgot the name
psstuphere
Lovely crushed with or without sugar, lovely as jam.
stillnodog
Cloud berry jam on vanilla ice cream - get that as a random craving maybe once a year. Absolut delicious. By itself or on waffles or Swedish pancakes (crepes-ish).
Ok so yay random craving definitely just hit lol
